Lebanon Valley 62, Elizabethtown 38
ANNVILLE, Pa. - #10 Lebanon Valley opened its conference schedule with a dominant 62-38 win over Elizabethtown Tuesday night behind heavy scoring from guards
Kiely Chaklos and
Tierney Hiltz.
Chaklos led all scorers with 17 points and had another nearly perfect night at the free throw line, shooting 7-for-8. Hiltz finished with 14 points.
The win is LVC's 14
th straight against E-town in a series that dates back to 1931. The Dutchmen (3-0, 1-0 CC) held the Blue Jays (1-3, 0-1) under 40 points for the first time since 1973. The defensive effort was once again led by
Caitlin Bach, who finished with a team-high 11 rebounds. Chaklos and
Renee Fritz had eight each.
Chaklos and Hiltz were catalysts in a 10-0 run at the start of the second half that put the Dutchmen up by 23 points and scared off any chance of a Blue Jay comeback. They led by as many as 24 points five different times in the half.
LVC committed 20 turnovers in the game – nine forced – but overcame them with a 39.2 shooting percentage from the field. Perimeter shooting didn't come easy with the Dutchmen shooting just 10 percent from three-point range.
Lauren Ruhl hit the team's only trey.
LVC returns to action at the tail end of Thanksgiving break with a home game against Shenandoah Sunday at 4 p.m.
