If You Only Know Five Things...

Evan Fink leads the Middle Atlantic Conference in rushing touchdowns with 13 this season, already the fourth-highest season total in LVC history. His Del Val counterpart, Kyle Schuberth, is second in the MAC with 12 ground scores.
2. Both teams enter with two of the three highest-scoring offenses in the MAC; Del Val averages 39.1 points per game, and LVC isn't far behind at 31.6 points per game.
4. The Delaware Valley game is the 200th coached in Jim Monos' career. Monos is LVC's all-time leader in wins (92) and games coached.
5. It's Take A Kid To The Game Day, with all children 14 and under being admitted free. All kids wearing youth football jerseys will be invited on the field for pregame warm-ups and introductions.
5. LVC could secure its fifth consecutive winning season with a victory, the first time that's happened in 49 years since a span from 1958 to 1963.
Series History
Today's game is the 30th meeting all-time ... DVC leads the series 18-11, and the Aggies have won nine straight ... LVC's last win came back in 2002, a 33-26 overtime thriller ... This will be the 28th consecutive year they have met, dating back to 1985 ... Head Coach Jim Monos is 6-13 against the Aggies ... The first meeting in the series was Nov. 13, 1965, a 34-18 LVC win.
Recapping FDU-Florham
Tough defense - including four interceptions - complemented a balance offense as Lebanon Valley improved to 5-2 with a 41-14 win at FDU-Florham last week. The Dutchmen held the Devils (1-6) to just 183 yards of offense in an occasionally sloppy game that saw LVC take full control with a pair of third-quarter touchdowns.
Evan Fink scored twice on the ground, and
Joey Miller and
Jake Zeigler each caught touchdowns to complement a third-quarter
Josh Borreli pick-six.
Brendan Kain added a fourth-quarter insurance touchdown. LVC rode a balanced rushing attack as four Dutchmen had eight or more touches, led by Kain's career-high 71 yards on 13 carries, and
Conrad Heisey had 32 yards also on 13 touches.
Kenny King racked up 42 yards on eight attempts.
Leo Kyte went 11-for-14 for 175 yards, with Zeigler's 113 yards leading all receivers. LVC's punishing defense stopped FDU all day long, holding the Devils to less than 100 yards each of rushing (84) and passing (99) as
Derek Nye,
Mike Pugh,
Bryan Ek, and Borreli all intercepted passes.
Noting LVC's Offense
No anticipated two-deep changes for the offense ... LVC enters Week 9 ranked third in the MAC in scoring (31.6 ppg) ... The Dutchmen ran a balanced offense at FDU, rushing for 209 yards and passing for 184 ...
Evan Fink continued his hot form inside the red zone, running for two touchdowns among his 11 carries to take his season total to 13 TDs ...
Brendan Kain had a career game at tailback, rushing for 71 yards on a career-high 13 carries ...
Conrad Heisey also had 13 touches for 32 yards ...
Pete Panichi played sparingly, carrying four times for six yards ...
Leo Kyte was an efficient 11-for-14 for 175 yards with two touchdowns and an interception ...
Brian Murphy completed his only pass ...
Jake Zeigler had another good outing, catching five balls for 113 yards and a score ...
Joey Miller caught a touchdown, his team-leading sixth of the season ... Tight end
Nate Myers returned to make two catches for 16 yards ... The offensive line, while pushing LVC to another 200+ yard rushing day, did not surrender a sack ...
The Dutchman O-line is tied for third-best in the MAC with only seven sacks allowed in as many games this season.
Noting LVC's Defense
One two-deep change for LVC as
Andrew Livingston will make his first career start at end in place of
Joey Scerbo, who is out ... The Dutchmen had a good game at FDU-Florham, picking off four passes and holding the Devils to only 183 yards of offense ...
Derek Nye,
Mike Pugh,
Josh Borreli, and
Bryan Ek all had picks ... Borreli's went back 20 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter ...
Jerome Duncan,
DJ Poligone, and
David Kennedy each had five tackles to lead LVC ... Lebanon Valley racked up seven tackles for loss, led by two from
Drew Murphy, while
Matt Morell had LVC's only sack ... LVC enters week 9 ranked second in the MAC in red zone defense, allowing 14 scores on 22 chances ...  LVC held FDU to less than 100 yards each rushing (84) and passing (99) ... FDU was just 5-for-13 on third downs.
Noting LVC's Special Teams
No two-deep changes on special teams ... LVC remains the MAC's top kick-return unit (and is ranked 10th in the nation), averaging 25.2 yards per return ...
Sean Fakete made five extra points at FDU to become LVC's all-time leader, now with 85 for his career ... He missed a fourth-quarter field goal from 33 ... Freshman
Matthew Smoluk made his first career appearance, missing the PAT on LVC's final touchdown ... It was a quiet day for
Jake Zeigler, who had to punt only once, a 30-yarder that was not returnable ...
Bryan Ek took a punt back 16 yards, and
Kelly Saylor had another for four ...
Mike Smith handled a 21-yard kickoff return.
A Milestone For Monos
In his 20th season at the helm of LVC, Jim Monos will coach his 200th career game at the Valley today. Monos is 92-105-2 during his tenure with the Dutchmen.
Going For Five
With a win in any of its last three games, Lebanon Valley will secure its fifth straight winning season - the first time that's happened in 49 years. LVC last had five consecutive winning seasons between 1958 and 1963; the record is six, set between 1941 and 1949 (with 1943-45 not played due to World War II).
Fakete Sets PAT Record
Only a junior, kicker
Sean Fakete is already LVC's all-time leader in extra points after booting five last week at FDU-Florham. Fakete's career total of 85 surpasses Brittany Ryan '11's mark of 82.
Fink Breaking Through
You don't usually see fullbacks near the top of a lot of rushing lists, but
Evan Fink's season is proving to be something special. The junior has run for a MAC-best 13 touchdowns this year, including eight in the last three games. His 13 represent the fourth-most ever in a season at LVC (the record of 19 was set last year by
Ben Guiles '12). Fink's eight rushing touchdowns in the last three games is the second-most ever by a Dutchman; Ken Wilson '90 scored nine in three games in 1989.
LVC Among NCAA Leaders
LVC is ranked among NCAA Division III's statistical leaders in a couple of categories this week.
Evan Fink's 13 rushing touchdowns ranks eighth, and he is 12th overall in scoring (11.14 points per game). LVC's kickoff return unit is ranked 10th in the nation, averaging 25.18 yards per return. The Dutchmen rank 20th in the nation in interceptions, with 13 picks this season.
Secondary Steps Up
LVC has 13 interceptions through seven games, its highest total to this point in the season since 1995. What's more impressive is that the contributions have come from all over the field, with 10 different Dutchmen making picks -
Zach Wierman,
Josh Borreli, and
Derek Nye each have two. Both of Borreli's interceptions were returned for touchdowns, as was
Zach Halpin's.
What A Difference A Year Makes
On this weekend last year, LVC battled Lycoming to a 10-7 loss in a freak October snowstorm as more than 4" of snow blanketed Arnold Field. Both teams struggled to move the ball, and the power went out multiple times throughout the game as the heavy, wet snow took down power lines in the area. It was the first snow game in nearly two decades for LVC as the "Snowmageddon" storm set records for October snowfalls in Pennsylvania. This week's forecast? A bit balmier - 65 degrees and overcast.
Taking Care of the Ball
Heading into week 9, Lebanon Valley is +4 on turnovers, ranking second in the MAC. While the Dutchmen are -2 on fumbles, they are +6 on interceptions thanks to 13 picks to seven thrown.
Scouting The Aggies
Del Val enters this week scoring 39.1 points per game with an impressing 501 yards of offense per game. Feature back Kyle Schuberth has rushed for 617 yards and 12 touchdowns this season to lead a 266 yard-per-game rushing attack. Quarterback Aaron Wilmer has also been solid, throwing for 1,595 yards and 14 touchdowns with a 63% completion rate. Chris Ruiz (421 yds, 5 TDs) and Lewis Vincent (490 yds, 4 TDs) are his favored targets. Delaware Valley has built its five-game win streak on its defense, though, allowing just 34 points during that span including back-to-back shutouts in its last two games. John Robinson leads the team with 41 tackles and two interceptions, while lineman Dwayne Shaw is having a good year with 40 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 10.5 tackles for loss. Del Val allows just 253 yards of offense per game.
