#17 Dutchmen Beat Widener Behind Chaklos' 19-Point Night

Box Score Women's Basketball
Lebanon Valley 67, Widener 60

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The #17 Lebanon Valley women's hoops team (16-2, 7-0 CC) got a season-high 19 points from Kiely Chaklos and 21 from its bench in a 67-60 win over Widener (11-7, 4-3) Wednesday night at home.

Chaklos made a career-high 13 free throws on the night, a function of the 25 fouls committed by the Pride.

Three women fouled out of the game with others in foul trouble fairly early on. Chaklos, herself, was pulled for three minutes in the second half after committing her third. Both benches were forced to cycle players into and out of the game.

The Dutchmen were aided by the Pride's insistence on shooting from beyond the three-point arc. While they shot over 39 percent from the field on the whole, they shot just 8 percent (2-for-25) from outside.

LVC led throughout most of the first half and held a lead as large as eight points, but the Pride closed out the first half on a 5-0 run fueled by three successful free throws and led 26-24 at halftime.

The Dutchmen pieced together a key 7-0 run in the second half when Widener's Vanessa Hejnas was pulled for foul trouble. Chaklos led the charge with five points--three from the line. The run turned a three-point deficit into a 50-46 lead with 5:41 to play.

LVC led by as many as nine as the game wound down and the Pride were forced to begin fouling.

Amanda Donia scored a season-high 10 points for the Dutchman off the bench. Renee Fritz and Tierney Hiltz finished with eight points each.

Fritz and Hiltz led the defense with nine and eight rebounds, respectively.

Kate Dellinger led Widener with 20 points. Hejnas and Francesca Lee each finished with 11.

The Dutchmen host Lycoming Saturday at 2 p.m.
