READING, Pa. – Lebanon Valley softball fell short of advancing in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon, dropping a 2-1 decision to Arcadia. The Dutchmen await the NCAA selection show for an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship. The selection show will air via webstream on NCAA.com on Monday, May 9 at 12 p.m.

Limited to three hits, Allison Hartman, Steffani Secola, and Laura Snyder recorded a hit each for the Dutchmen (29-9), while Marisa Krause batted in the only run.

A two run second inning gave Arcadia the early advantage. Virigina Buechel drew a leadoff walk and Marissa Perez reached on an error. After retiring two batters, Amy Johnson walked to load the bases. An infield single from Ashley McCarthy scored both Perez and Buechel before a fly out ended the inning.

LVC broke through in the fifth to come within one run. Katie Freeman led things off with a walk and Mary Readinger came in to pinch run. A sacrifice bunt from Hartman advanced Readinger to second and a single up the middle by Secola moved her to third base. Readinger went on to score off Krause's sacrifice fly to right field.

Arcadia threatened again in the seventh after drawing a one-out walk and having another runner reach base after being hit by a pitch. Snyder relieved starter Val Malizzia and captured the final two outs of the inning to keep it a 2-1 game.

The Dutchmen looked to tie the score in the bottom of the inning, but fell short. Hartman notched a one out single to center, but a fielder's choice tagged pinch runner Krysteena Koller out at second and a strikeout ended the contest.

Malizzia pitched six and one-third innings for LVC. She allowed two runs on four hits and struck out seven batters. Jessica Wood tossed the complete game for Arcadia. With Malizzia and Snyder pitching in the game for the Dutchmen, they both tied the all-time record for appearances with 84 set by Jenn Roberts '07.
