ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley softball concluded the regular season with a doubleheader sweep of Arcadia Saturday afternoon, winning the first game by a 4-1 score and posting a 7-0 shutout in the nightcap.

With the sweep, the Dutchmen claim the Commonwealth Conference regular season championship and will be the #1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. LVC draws #4 Lycoming at 11 a.m. in the opening game on May 6 at Alvernia's Angelica Park.

Prior to the start of the second game, Lebanon Valley honored its seven seniors playing in their final home game – Chelsea Artz, Meghan Donoghue, Linley Eberthart, Katie Freeman, Marisa Krause, Val Malizzia, and Laura Snyder.

GAME ONE
Held to six hits, Krause registered a team-high two hits and Allison Hartman batted in two runs.

All four of LVC's runs came in the first inning. Katie Deardorff singled and stole second, while Donoghue drew a walk and Freeman was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A double down the right field line from Hartman scored two runs, while an error sent Freeman home and advanced Hartman to third. Krause finished out the scoring with a single up the middle.

The Knights only run came in the sixth inning. Lindsey Henchinski hit a one-out double to left center, moved to third on a single, and scored on a throwing error by LVC.

Snyder pitched the complete game for the Dutchmen. She allowed one run on five hits and struck out nine batters.

GAME TWO
Kristen Palmerio went 3-for-4 with a run scored and team-high two RBI, while three other players posted two hits each for the Dutchmen.

Lebanon Valley threatened in the second inning but was held off the scoreboard. Krause and Snyder drew walks to put runners on first and second, and Palmerio hit an infield single to load that bases. A sharp hit to left center was grabbed by the shortstop for the final out, leaving the runners in the base paths.

The Dutchmen broke the game open in the bottom of the fourth, plating seven runs. Krause started with a single to center and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Steffani Secola. A fielder's choice sent Snyder to first and a fielding error loaded the bases. Palmerio's single to right scored two and she advanced to second on the throw. Deardorff continued with a bunt single, and Donoghue scored Chelsea Kehr on a single up the middle. With the bases loaded, all three runs scored on Hartman's double to left center, and Hartman went on to score on the play after a throwing error by Arcadia.

Malizzia started and allowed just one hit while striking out four.

LVC finishes the regular season with a 28-7 overall record and an 11-3 mark in conference action.
