ANNVILLE, Pa. – #23 Lebanon Valley continued its program record win streak with a doubleheader sweep of Ursinus Wednesday afternoon. The Dutchmen took both games by a 2-1 score, with the first game lasting 10 innings, extending the win streak to 13 games.

Kristen Palmerio led the Dutchmen in game one, tallying two of the team's four hits and batting in both runs. She also pitched all 10 innings, allowing one run on four hits. She struck out seven in her fifth win of the season.

In game two, Katie Freeman led the squad at the plate, going 2-for-3. Allison Hartman and Marisa Krause each notched an RBI for the Dutchmen.

Earlier this afternoon, this week's National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Top 25 Poll was released with the Dutchmen moving up one spot to #23.

GAME ONE
A pitcher's duel between Ursinus' Jennilyn Weber and LVC's Palmerio, the game went into the tenth inning in a 1-1 tie.

Ursinus jumped out in the first inning with Jamie Miles scoring one run. The Dutchmen broke up Weber's no-hitter bid in the fifth inning with a single by Chelsea Kehr. A stolen base and groundout advanced Kehr to third, setting up the game-tying run after a single to right by Palmerio.

The game remained tied until the seventh inning, with each team having runners reach third base. The Bears started the inning with a leadoff double from Samantha Lowes. She advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt, but back-to-back strikeouts ended the inning.

LVC responded in the bottom of the inning with a leadoff triple to right by Mary Readinger. Meghan Donoghue drew a walk and went on to seal second. A fielder's choice led to Readinger being tagged out at home, sending the game to extra innings.

Both teams had runners advance to third in the eighth. Ursinus had a chance to score in the ninth, but a strong throw by left fielder Steph Hulme to catcher Steffani Secola prevented the run from scoring and ended the inning with a double play.

The Dutchmen broke through in the 10th inning. Hulme began the inning on second base and advanced to third off a sacrifice bunt by Kehr. Ursinus retired Katie Deardorff for the first out and Palmerio sent Kehr for the winning run.

GAME TWO
Combining for seven hits through the first four innings, both teams were held off the scoresheet. Taking the early lead in the fifth, Lebanon Valley posted two runs on four hits. With two outs, Donoghue and Freeman notched singles. Hartman scored Donoghue off a single and Krause sent Freeman home before pinch runner Hulme was tagged out at third stretching the run to end the inning.

The Bears fought back in the sixth, scoring one run. Cassie Brown hit a leadoff single and advanced to third on two passed balls. A single to center from Abby Sido scored Brown. Lebanon Valley stayed strong in the seventh; retiring all three Ursinus players for the 2-1 win.

Val Malizzia started in the circle for LVC. Pitching four innings, she held the Bears to three hits and struck out two. Snyder took over in the fifth and claimed the win after giving up one run on two hits and striking out three.

The Dutchmen travel to Elizabethtown on Thursday for a doubleheader beginning at 2:30 p.m.
