ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley turned in a dominating game offensively, ripping off 39 shots as they built an early lead and held on to beat DeSales, 7-4, on Saturday.
The Dutchmen (4-5, 2-2 MAC) relied on five different goal scorers, with
Jordan Mayr and
Malik Pedroso both hitting twice. The Bulldogs (2-5, 1-2 MAC) fell in an early 3-0 hole, but stayed in the game behind a a strong 18-save day by Justin Campanelli.
LVC jumped out to the 3-0 lead with an early goal by
Steve Wildberger followed by strikes from Pedroso and
Ian Schmid to close the first quarter.
DeSales got one back when Bruce Peditto scored to open the second quarter, but goals by
CJ Adams and Pedroso blew it open to 5-1 before James Guerrier scored man-up before the half.
The Dutchmen took full control with a pair of Mayr goals to open the third quarter, and after Jarrod Wiedow and Alex Koch scored 18 seconds apart, the Dutchmen shut down DeSales, holding them scoreless for the final 21:11 of the game.
Bryan Lockward (4-4) earned the win with seven saves for LVC.
LVC led 39-20 on shots and forced 27 DeSales turnovers, holding the Bulldogs to just 13-for-22 on clears. DeSales dominated face-offs 10-4.
LVC heads to Lycoming on Wednesday.
