Lebanon Valley 11, Case Western 1
CLERMONT, Fla. – Continuing spring break play in Florida, Lebanon Valley softball went 1-1 in action Tuesday. The Dutchmen dropped a 5-1 contest to #20 Emory in the first game and came back to post an 11-1 win over Case Western in five innings later in the day.
Against Emory,
Meghan Donoghue went 2-for-3 with a homerun, her first of the season. With that homer, she tied the program record of nine set up
Allie Davies '10.
Alexa Maddy and
Chelsea Artz notched LVC's two other hits in the game.
Val Malizzia started in the circle and pitched six innings. She allowed four runs on five hits and struck out three.
Laura Snyder pitched the seventh inning, giving up one run.
In the win over Case Western, all starters had at least one hit for LVC.
Katie Deardorff led the way, going 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored, and
Katie Freeman was 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs.
Steffani Secola added runs in the win and
Mary Readinger notched a triple.
LVC scored four runs in the first, two in the second, one in the third, and two in the next two innings for the shortened game.
Kristen Palmerio started her first game of the season against the Spartans. Pitching the complete game, she gave up one run of four hits and struck out four.
The Dutchmen have Wednesday off before playing John Carroll and Urbana Thursday.
