IMMACULATA, Pa. - Immaculata's Ben Tuscai scored three second-half goals, including the gamewinner with 12 seconds left, to lift his team in a comeback victory over Lebanon Valley, 9-8, on Saturday.
The Dutchmen (1-2) held an 8-4 lead at halftime, but suffered their second straight comeback loss as they were held scoreless in the second half. The Mighty Macs (2-1) scored six unanswered goals to end the game while riding a stellar 17-save performance by Jon Diodati.
It spoiled another good day for freshmen
Malik Pedroso (3 G) and
Matt Roupe (2 G, 2 A). The Dutchmen outshot the Macs 33-25 and gave up just one extra-man opportunity.
LVC jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead in the first quarter as longpole
Ryan Lanigan scored off the opening faceoff and Roupe followed it up on the next possession. Immaculata's Joey Shallow cut the lead in half, but Roupe sparked a 4-0 run that included two goals by Pedroso and a
CJ Adams strike.
Immaculata pulled back two goals to start the second quarter before LVC cashed in twice on man-up chances, with Roupe feeding Pedroso and
Jordan Mayr on successive goals.
However, that would be LVC's final time on the scoreboard. Taylor Acree scored with 2:53 left in the first half to make it 8-4, and Dante Tuscai opened the third before Ben Tuscai scored twice more in the quarter to make it an 8-7 game.
In the fourth quarter, Mike Boyd tied the game with 8:27 to go, and Ben Tuscai netted the winner with just 12 seconds remaining.
Bryan Lockward played the first half and made five saves;
Mike Moll stopped six but took the loss in 30 minutes of second-half relief.
