CLERMONT, Fla. – Lebanon Valley College softball wrapped up its spring break trip with two wins on Friday. The Dutchmen posted a 5-2 win in the first game against Penn State-Behrend and a 7-3 win over Thiel in the second contest.
Kristen Palmerio led the Dutchmen against Penn State-Behrend, going 4-for-4 at the plate with five RBI and two doubles.
Linley Eberhart added two hits in the win.
LVC scored one run in the first, two in the second, one in the fourth, and one in the sixth inning. The Nittany Lions scored both of their runs in the fourth inning.
Pitching the complete game,
Val Malizzia allowed two runs on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts.
Finishing the day, LVC bats came alive in game two. Allison Hartman went 3-for-4, while
Chelsea Kehr and
Steffani Secola added two hits each. Secola and Palmerio notched doubles and
Mary Readinger tallied a triple.
Palmerio's double scored two runs for the Dutchmen, Hartman registered her first collegiate home run, and
Katie Deardorff scored two runs.
LVC tallied one run in the first, three in the third, two in the sixth, and one in the seventh. The Tom Cats scored two in the first inning and one in the fourth.
Laura Snyder picked up the win after allowing three runs on five hits, striking out six, and not allowing a walk.
The Dutchmen travel to Juniata for a doubleheader on Tuesday beginning at 3 p.m.
