If You Only Know Five Things...
1. Lebanon Valley is trying to win out its remaining two games to go 7-3 and hope to earn a third consecutive ECAC Bowl bid.
2. Wilkes and LVC are two of the MAC's best rushing offenses; Wilkes leads the conference at 229.7 yards per game, and LVC averages 186.2 yards on the ground.
3. Ben Guiles, who is seventh in the nation in scoring, will become LVC's all-time scoring leader with his next touchdown.
4. The Dutchmen are trying to avoid losing three straight games for the first time since 2007.
5. Each of the last five meetings between LVC and Wilkes have been decided by a single score. Last year's overtime contest saw the Colonels come back from 28-6 down in the fourth quarter to win 35-28.

Series History
Today's game is the 40th meeting all-time ... Wilkes leads the series 23-16 ... Wilkes is 13-7 playing at home ... This will be the 14th consecutive year they have met, dating back to 1997 ... After Wilkes won 11 straight, LVC won the last two in the series in 2008 and 2009 before the Colonels won 35-28 in overtime last year ... Each of the last five games have been decided by one score ... Head Coach Jim Monos is 7-9 against the Colonels ... The first meeting in the series was Oct. 3, 1959, a 15-6 LVC win.

Noting LVC's Offense
LVC's offense was shut down by the snow and Lycoming's sturdy defense last week, as the Dutchmen were limited to only 184 yards of offense and four pass completions ... Running back Ben Guiles was stopped for a total of -2 yards on nine carries before leaving the game with a contusion in the first half ... Blair Ransom picked up the slack with 62 yards on 15 carries, and fullback Evan Fink ran four times for 21 yards ... Colt Zarilla was 4-for-21 with two interceptions in very tough conditions, but did throw a 22-yard touchdown to Tim Picerno ... Picerno caught three passes for 89 yards ... Yahya McIntyre got the start over Joey Miller and caught a pass for seven yards ... The offensive line was bolstered by the return of RT Zach Nace after four weeks out, but the Dutchmen lose LG Brendan Kozub this week ... Mike Attanasio, who also started vs. Stevenson, will get the nod in Kozub's place ... Chris Taggart, who started four games at right tackle for Nace, will back up both tackle spots ... LVC is starting its sixth different offensive line combination in nine games.

Noting LVC's Defense
LVC's defense came up with several big stops against Lycoming, including a goal-line stand to give the Dutchmen a late chance ... Cory Homer recorded LVC's first sack in five games, part of a game-high 13 tackles ... It was a good day for run stoppers as Lycoming did not complete a pass on four attempts; in addition to Homer's totals, NT Kevin Smith had 11 hits and Wes Rockwell had 10 tackles with a hurry ... Jason Gigous had eight tackles, including one for a loss ... Ryan Melley had a tackle for loss and Jerome Duncan and Dave Hallinan split a crucial backfield hit on third down during the goal-line stand ... LVC allowed a seemingly high 217 yards of rushing, but Lycoming averaged 3.1 yards per rush on 69 carries ...

Noting LVC's Specialists
Colt Zarilla made the best of the terrible conditions against Lycoming, getting off four punts for a 27.2 average ... Two of his punts were beauties, including a 43-yarder that stuck at the one-yard line and another inside the 20 ... Two others were snapped high, and Zarilla did well to grab the loose ball out of the snow and still get off a punt ... Sean Fakete didn't have much to do, making his one PAT attempt and taking two kickoffs ... Kelly Saylor had a 19-yard kick return, and Nate Myers ended up with a squibber for four yards ... With Jake Zeigler out, freshman Mike Smith took over holding duties.

Snow Men
Last week's game against Lycoming was an unforgettable one for LVC thanks to the unusual weather conditions, with nearly a half-foot of wet, heavy snow covering Arnold Field from the largest October snowstorm in Central Pennsylvania history. It was the first snow game ever recorded in Arnold Field history, and the first time LVC had played in white stuff since a game at Lycoming in 1988.

Gov. Corbett Takes In LVC-Lycoming
One LVC fan wasn't phased at all by the snow last weekend: Gov. Tom Corbett '71. The governor, a former lacrosse student-athlete during his days at the Valley, took in part of the game from the home sideline. He has been a frequent fan at LVC football, basketball, and lacrosse events during his term as attorney general and now as governor.

Guiles, Fakete Chasing Records
Already breaking the career rushing touchdowns mark, Ben Guiles became the total touchdowns record holder against FDU-Florham, scoring his 43rd combined rushing/receiving/return touchdown to surpass Adam Brossman '08. Guiles has a couple more records to go: he is just two points back of Brossman for the all-time scoring record of 266. The rushing yardage mark is also within reach - Guiles needs 262 yards to surpass Charlie Parker '10's 3,707 yards. Sophomore kicker Sean Fakete is also having a good season, and his 30 PATs are three shy of the single-season record of 33 set by Brittany Ryan '11 in 2009.

Senior Receivers Step Up
LVC's two senior receivers, WR Tim Picerno and TE Matt Mankiewicz, have entered the final weeks of their careers on fire. After a quiet start to the season, Picerno has burst out for two 100+ yard games and an 89-yard effort in the last four weeks, including a 137-yard day at Albright and a 12-catch, 106-yard effort against Widener. He caught three passes for 89 yards and a TD in the snow last week against Lycoming, and in the FDU-Florham game he also caught two touchdowns. Mankiewicz, meanwhile, had a career game at Widener with six catches for 83 yards, including a wide-open touchdown catch.

Last Year vs. Wilkes
Wilkes took advantage of Lebanon Valley mistakes as it rallied back from 21-3 down to force overtime and stop the Dutchmen, 35-28. The Dutchmen blew a 28-6 fourth-quarter lead as the Colonels scored 22 points in the fourth, including third-string quarterback Alex George's 20-yard pass to Anthony Dorunda and subsequent game-tying two-point conversion to Todd Eagles. Matt Nawracaj's potential game-winning field goal was barely wide right from 21 into a stiff wind, and George's TD lunge in overtime was the decider as LVC was stopped four times at the goal line on their turn. It spoiled a great day for Ben Guiles, who had 172 yards rushing with a touchdown as LVC ran for 296 yards in all with 523 yards of total offense. Caleb Fick returned to start and had his best game of the year, going 16-for-30 for 206 yards and two touchdowns to become just the second player in program history to pass for 5,000 career yards. Penalties and mistakes again hurt LVC; the Dutchmen were flagged 11 times for 91 yards, including a call that negated a Matt Lillis interception in the end zone in the fourth quarter. LVC also lost four fumbles, including a game-changer late in the fourth as Fick was hit by Chris Swinarski to set up Wilkes' game-tying score.

Wilkes Quick Look
Wilkes has had an up-and-down 2011, but they can say they are the only team to have beaten Widener this year, 35-27 back on Sept. 24. The Colonels are defined by a huge rushing attack, averaging 229.7 yards per game behind a combination of Zach Tivald (705 yds, 6 TD) and Auxence Wogou (328 yds, 1 TD) and quarterback Alex George (394 yds, 5 TD). George has thrown for 922 yards and eight touchdowns to just two picks, completing 55.8 percent of his passes. Todd Eagles has carried the bulk of the receiving, catching 32 balls for 460 yards and six scores. Defensively, Wilkes is led by Tate Moore-Jacobs' 78 tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss with three interceptions, and Rob Houseknecht has 54 stops with 9.0 for a loss. The Colonels do allow points, though, with opponent averaging 30 per game on them.
