ANNVILLE, Pa.
- Record-breaking performances by running back Ben Guiles, quarterback Colt Zarilla, and defensive end Cory Homer highlighted their Senior Day as Lebanon Valley had no trouble getting past King's 54-7 in the regular-season finale at Arnold Field.

The Dutchmen finish the season at 7-3, making their case for a third-straight ECAC Bowl appearance when bids are announced on late Sunday night or Monday morning.

Guiles, needing just 36 yards to become LVC's all-time leading rusher, got it on the first play of the game with a 58-yard touchdown, part of a 140-yard, three-touchdown day. Zarilla threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns, setting single-season records for passing yards (2,283) and touchdowns (22). Homer led a huge defensive effort with a single-game record 5.5 sacks, including a safety.

Reigning MAC Offensive Player of the Week Tim Picerno had five catches for 105 yards, including a 67-yard dance that led to Guiles' second touchdown.

"I'm pleased we came out and played our kind of game," said head coach Jim Monos. "Our seniors really stepped up. They weren't going to let anything negative happen today and it was just a real pleasure to be on the sideline and watch this team play."

Lebanon Valley's defense was outstanding, holding the Monarchs (1-8, 1-7 MAC) to just 169 yards of offense while racking up nine sacks and a pair of fumble recoveries. Homer had 4.5 sacks in the first half alone, and added his final hit in the third quarter for a safety on Bryant Klein.

"I felt good today on Senior Day," Homer said. "I definitely had help, all the way down from the coaches with a great game plan and we just executed. These games are limited now being senior year, you never want to live with any regrets."

Guiles scored on the opening play of the game, popping a 58-yard run to go up 7-0, breaking the all-time rushing record in the process. Guiles' new standard in 3,812, surpassing the 3,707 set by former teammate Charlie Parker '10.

"What a way to get it. He's something else and we're all hoping we get one more chance to watch him play college football," Monos said.

A 34-yard Sean Fakete field goal made it 10-0 before Guiles added a seven-yard tote to end the first quarter up 17-0. Yahya McIntyre extended the lead with a 47-yard haul from Zarilla to open the second half, and Jake Zeigler made a superb fingertip grab from 26 yards out to make it 31-0 at the half.

King's finished their only scoring drive to open the third quarter as Lebanon native Jay Torres caught a six-yard pass, but LVC rang off the final 23 points of the game as Guiles busted out for a 41-yarder, Homer made his safety, and Zarilla capped a drive with a QB sneak in the third quarter, and Conrad Heisey added a three-yard run midway through the fourth.

Game Notes
At 7-3, LVC figures to have a strong shot at an ECAC bid. The Dutchmen have been to two in a row, winning over Salisbury in 2009 and losing at Johns Hopkins last year ... Prior to 2009, LVC had only been to an extra game twice in its history ... LVC's senior class is the first since 1963 to finish their careers with four winning seasons ... LVC racked up 542 offensive yards, including 257 on the ground ... It was Guiles' 18th career 100-yard game ... He cross 1,000 yards for the season, the first Dutchman to do it twice and only the seventh 1,000-yard season ever ... Guiles scored his 17th touchdown of the season, tying his own record set last year ... Guiles lost a fumble while deep in King's territory, but LVC capitalized with Homer's safety, and they scored again off the free kick with Zarilla's sneak later in the quarter ... The previous LVC game record for sacks with 4.0, held by three players including Homer's former linemate Zach Bleiler '11 ... Zarilla bested Dan Kelly '07's record of 21 passing touchdowns set in 2005 and Erik Orndorff's mark of 2,134 passing yards set in 1991 ... Homer's 11 tackles led LVC, and Clay Chaney had 10 stops with a half sack and a fumble recovery ... Kevin Smith had six tackles and a hurry ... Wes Rockwell had a sack and two hurries ... Andrew Burkholder, Jason Gigous, and Macke Hall also had sacks ... Sean Fakete went 7-7 on PATs, tying his own single-game record for the most ... Kelly Saylor nearly had a punt return for a touchdown, taken down by the punter after a 37-yard return ... Klein threw for just 70 yards for King's, and Delano Mullings led the Monarchs with 62 yards.
