Box Score
ANNVILLE, Pa. - An inspired Dutchmen team held FDU-Florham to a one-goal game for most of the first half, but the Devils scored four goals in one-minute span late in the half to go on top and stay there as they won 15-4 on Senior Day at Arnold Field.
The Devils (10-5, 9-2 MAC) clinched the #2 seed and a bye in the MAC playoffs with their win over the Dutchmen (2-12, 0-11 MAC), who were completing their first season of lacrosse since 1985.
Before the game, LVC honored seniors
Andrew Brandt,
Brendon Cummings,
Carmen Forte, and
JT Fredlund for their service to the program. All four had been away from the game of lacrosse for more than three years before picking it up to lead the Dutchmen in 2010.
Ty Fosnacht,
Kyle Stewardson,
Ian Schmid, and
Sean Foley provided LVC's scoring, while Seth Molek led all scorers with four goals for FDU-Florham.
Colin Thompson had a day on defense, causing six turnovers and scooping nine ground balls, both career highs.
After FDU took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter, Stewardson scored early in the second off
CJ Adams' feed to make it a 2-1 game, and LVC held it there until late in the quarter when the Devils won four straight face-offs and scored quickly off each to open a 6-1 lead.
It would eventually add up to a 10-0 run for FDU before Fosnacht and Foley scored back-to-back in the fourth, and Schmid added a late goal in the final minute.
Ethan Hilberg made 11 saves for LVC, and FDU used three goalies, with starter Alex Kajencki making four saves in the win. FDU-Florham led 41-28 on shots and won 15 of 23 face-offs.
