Game One Box Score
Game Two Box Score

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley softball split a doubleheader with Susquehanna Wednesday afternoon after the Dutchmen recorded a 5-4 come from behind victory in the first game and falling 7-6 in the nightcap. Junior Marisa Krause had a team-high two RBIs in game one, while senior Kristen Uhas went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in the second contest.

With the win in game one, LVC added to the school record for most victories in the regular season. The previous record was 26 regular season wins set back in 2005, and tied in 2006. LVC broke the record in a doubleheader sweep of Alvernia last weekend, and added another tally with a win over Susquehanna.

GAME ONE
LVC came from behind in the seventh inning, scoring four runs for the win. Junior Meghan Donoghue and classmate Katie Freeman both drew walks to start the seventh, and a one-out single from senior Allie Davies scored a run. With two runners on base, Krause hit a single to right field, sending both across home plate. Senior Janey Kozlowski pulled off the heroics, hitting a two-out single to score the winning run.

Susquehanna struck first in the game, scoring a run in the opening inning. The Crusaders added two runs in the second for the 3-0 lead with a double from Katie Connors scoring one and a single from Deanna Anderson tallying the other run.

The Crusaders stretched their lead to four runs in the sixth inning with a runner scoring off a groundout by Sarah Dowzicky.

Lebanon Valley broke up Susquehanna pitcher Cara Swerdlow's shutout bid in the bottom of the sixth when pinch runner Chelsea Artz scored after a bases loaded hit by pitch.

Junior Val Malizzia pitched the complete game, allowing four runs on 10 hits and posting two strikeouts.

GAME TWO
The Dutchmen scored a run in the first to take an early lead with a double from Davies scoring sophomore Kristin Palmerio from second base.

Susquehanna reached the scoreboard in the fourth with two runs scoring on a double by Katelyn Reese. LVC's starting pitcher Laura Snyder retired three straight batters to end the inning.

Lebanon Valley responded in the third with three runs scoring. Palmerio started with a double to right and was sent home on a single by Uhas. With two outs, Krause notched a single to right, scoring a run and advancing to second on the throw. A double from Steph Hulme scored the final run of the inning.

The Crusaders tied the score at four aside in the fifth. Singles from Rochelle Landis and Reese with the bases loaded each sent a run home. Snyder struck out two batters and forced a pop up to catcher Chelsea Detwiler to end the inning.

Susquehanna took a one run lead in the sixth with a runner scoring from first off a double by Kelli Holota. The lead didn't last long as LVC tied the game in the bottom of the sixth with leadoff batter Chelsea Artz hitting a solo home run to left field, her first of the season.

The Crusaders started the seventh with a batter reaching first after being hit by a pitch. Reese then hit a home run to left center to score two and take a 7-5 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh, Donoghue hit a solo home run to center field for LVC, cutting Susquehanna's lead to one run. Uhas and Davies continued, notching singles to reach base and a groundout advanced both runners. LVC couldn't pull off its second comeback win, with the game ending on a strikeout.

With her homer, Donoghue broke the single-season home run record for the Dutchmen.

Snyder pitched the complete game, striking out 12 batters in the loss. With her 12 strikeouts in the game, Snyder broke the single-season strikeout record that was previously set by classmate Val Malizzia last year with 140 batters fanned. Snyder currently has 144 strikeouts this season.

Lebanon Valley concludes the regular season on Saturday at Messiah with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
