Softball Splits Final Spring Break Games

CLERMONT, Fla.  – Lebanon Valley softball concluded its spring break trip with two games Friday. The Dutchmen dropped a 17-7 decision to Ohio Northern in the first game of the day, and posted a 17-0 shutout of Marywood in the nightcap.
 
Junior Val Malizzia started in the circle for the Dutchmen against Ohio Northern, pitching through the middle of the fourth inning. Sophomore Kristen Palmerio relieved Malizzia in the fourth and pitched the remaining innings.
 
Senior Allie Davies led the team, going 3-for-4 with two singles, a double and two RBIs. Classmate Kristen Uhas went 3-for-5 with two singles, a double and a run batted in. Palmerio notched a double and freshman Steffani Secola added two singles and 3 RBIs for the Dutchmen.
 
In the nightcap, junior Laura Snyder pitched the complete game against Marywood. She allowed just two hits and recorded 11 strikeouts for the win.
 
Junior Meghan Donoghue was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three singles and three RBIs, and senior Caitlin Keller went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Sophomore Kerri Datres went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Uhas batted in two runs for LVC. Secola continued her success, posting two RBIs and classmate Alexa Maddy recorded her first collegiate hit, a double. Senior Janey Kozlowski tallied a double and two RBIs for the Dutchmen and sophomore Steph Hulme added two hits.
 
The Dutchmen take a week off before returning to action on Tuesday, March 16 when they host Juniata in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
