READING, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley women's basketball team dropped its regular season finale to Alvernia, 70-59, Saturday afternoon. Three players led LVC with 10 points or more, including leading scorer Eryn Schultz.
Lebanon Valley finished the season with a 22-3 overall record and a 12-2 mark in Commonwealth Conference play. The Dutchmen have claimed the number one seed in the upcoming conference tournament and will face Alvernia again in a semifinal game on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. at the LVC Gymnasium. Messiah will host Widener in the other semifinal.
LVC began the game strong, commanding an early lead. Alvernia fought back, and the two teams traded leads until 10:51 when the Crusaders took control and posted a six point lead going into the half.
Suzie Noyes opened the second half with a jumper to cut Alvernia's lead to four points, but the Crusaders regained control and cruised for the remainder of the game. Alvernia hit a game-high 18 point lead with 5:20 left to put the game out of reach for the Dutchmen.
Junior Eryn Schultz led the Dutchmen with 11 points, including two three-pointers, while classmate Andrea Hoover and freshman Renee Fritz both scored 10 points. Hoover also posted a team-high eight assists and Fritz notched four rebounds. Junior Suzie Noyes scored nine points along with two steals.
The Dutchmen will host a Commonwealth Conference tournament semifinal against Alvernia on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m.
