ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley women's soccer used a season-high five goals to claim a 5-0 victory over King's Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore
Nicole Snyder led the Dutchmen with two goals and three freshmen recorded their first collegiate goals against the Lady Monarchs. The win marked the fourth-straight victory for LVC and was the seventh shutout win of the season.
Freshman
Katie Deardorff scored her first collegiate goal to open the contest, just a minute and 28 seconds in. An unassisted tally, Deardorff's cross pass from the right side deflected off the goalkeeper and in. Classmate
Lindi Crist followed Deardorff with her first career goal at 9:21, assisted by junior
Sara Drabenstadt, after she crossed the ball from the left side to find Crist open.
The Dutchmen (7-4-1) added two more goals in the first half. Snyder scored her first at 15:25 when she received the ball from senior
Ely Kirkhoff and broken open in the center, leaving the defense behind her. Freshman
Taylor Saraiva also scored on a breakaway at 33:19, her first of the season, with the assist to classmate
Heather Tran.
Lebanon Valley held an 11-2 shot advantage in the first half, and both teams tallied two corner kicks.
LVC's final goal came at 58:53 off a corner kick. Crist took the corner for the Dutchmen, crossing it to the front of the goal where senior
Lauren King set up Snyder for her second of the contest and team-leading fifth of the season.
In the second half, the Dutchmen notched 14 shots for season-high 25 total. The defense held King's without a shot, the first time they've held an opponent without a shot in a half this season. Lebanon Valley had two more corner kick opportunities, while King's had one in the final 45 minutes.
Freshman
Becca Sykes recorded her third win of the season, playing the complete game in goal and posting a save.
Beginning Commonwealth Conference action Saturday, LVC travels to Alvernia for a 1:30 p.m. game.
