Noting The LVC Offense

Ben Guiles scored three times - he has seven TDs in two games - while running for 262 yards, the second-best total in school history ... Guiles is averaging 135.7 yards per game and is 156 yards short of a single-season record for yardage ...
Pete Panichi added 49 yards last week with
Blair Ransom out of the line-up ... Panichi is out vs. Widener, but Ransom returns ...
Caleb Fick attempted just 18 passes last week, completing six for 76 yards ... Backup QB
Colt Zarilla is out injured, and Fick will be backed up by sophomore
Leo Kyte ...
Ed Tobin caught four of those for 33 yards ... Wide receiver
Kevin Greene, one of LVC's effective wide-outs this year, is unavailable vs. Widener ... Freshman
Joey Miller is #2 on the depth chart at Z ... The tight ends have been in the mix more over the past three games, with
Brendan Riley catching a TD vs. FDU-Florham and
Matt Mankiewicz grabbing one vs. Wilkes ... Starting right guard
Andrew Scott will not be available for the second straight game ... Left guard
Tyler Veverka again moves to right guard, and freshman
Brendan Kozub will make his second start at left guard ... LVC has the MAC's worst red-zone offense, converting 20 of 37 chances.
Noting the LVC Defense

The Dutchmen have not allowed an offensive touchdown in their last six quarters ... LVC's last shutout came last year at Widener ... King's had just 27 yards rushing on 32 attempts ... Noting the LVC Special Teams
With

Brittany Ryan kicked a 24-yard field goal - LVC's first of the year - but missed three PATs (one blocked) ...
Kyle Wenger missed from 27 later in the game, and LVC had a botched fake field goal try as well.
Turnover Troubles
A large part of LVC's 2009 success was that they took care of the ball; the Dutchmen were +10 on turnovers last season. In 2010, however, it's been a different story entirely as LVC has developed a case of fumblitis. Lebanon Valley is -12 through seven games, which ranks second-worst in the MAC. That includes -9 on fumbles alone - they've given away 10 bobbles, and recovered just one.
Guiles Nears Records
Against FDU-Florham,
Ben Guiles did something that only three other players in program history had done - he scored four touchdowns on the ground. He followed that up with three touchdowns against King's, giving him 13 for the year, just two shy of the single-season record. Meanwhile, he has 950 yards through seven games, putting him 155 yards short of
Charlie Parker '10's single-season record of 1,105 yards. For his career, Guiles is third all-time with 2,318 yards.
Bleiler Moves Up Sacks List
Senior DE
Zach Bleiler is climbing up the LVC career sacks list, and is now in third place all-time with 22.5 career sacks. The record is 29, held by Karl Conrad '89.
Scouting Widener
Widener has dropped two straight after starting 2-0 in MAC play, losing to Lycoming and Albright in the past two weeks. Widener has been led by quarterback Chris Haupt, who has completed 54 percent of his passes for 908 yards and six touchdowns. Running back Adam Smith leads the team with 340 yards and a touchdown, but Brendan Curran has been the key back, rushing for just 148 yards but scoring six touchdowns. Junior Cedrick Clayton has been their go-to receiver, catching 43 passes for 512 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, the combo of Jon Natter and Joe Wojceichowski lead the team with 41 tackles, while Shane Szumski has been a beast inside with 11.0 TFL and nine sacks.
Last Year vs. Widener
Lebanon Valley improved to 7-1 for the first time in program history, shutting out Widener, 24-0, in a dominating all-around game on Halloween. Lebanon Valley, reaching seven wins for just the fifth time ever, kept the Quick Stadium cannon silent as it pitched its first shutout since Sept. 18, 2004, when it beat Widener 3-0 at Quick Stadium. The LVC defense smothered Widener, limiting the Pride to just 135 yards overall, including 62 on the ground and 73 passing. Cornerback
Matt Lillis had a career game, intercepting two passes for the second straight game, including a 48-yard pick-six, and adding two punt blocks. Three of his plays led to LVC touchdowns.
Series History
Saturday's game is the 66th meeting all-time ... Widener leads the series 40-23-2 ... LVC has won two in a row, in overtime at home two years ago 20-13, and a 24-0 shutout in Chester last year ... Coach Jim Monos is 5-12 against the Pride ... The two teams first met on Nov. 30, 1933, a scoreless tie. Widener was still known as Pennsylvania Military College until 1972 ... This year marks the 40th anniversary of one of the more unusual games in LVC history, as they played Widener inside Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall ... LVC is 6-10 on Oct. 30.
