If You Only Know 5 Things...
1. Lebanon Valley scored 19 points in the fourth quarter to come back and beat FDU-Florham, 33-21, last week in front of their homecoming crowd.
2. Ben Guiles has four 100+ yard rushing games this season and is coming off a four-touchdown performance against FDU-Florham.
3. The LVC defense gave up just 33 yards in the second half last week, and also had three interceptions after making four in the previous five games.
4. King's is winless, and averages 285 yards of offense per game (including 93.2 ypg rushing).
5. LVC is -9 on turnovers and 7-for-19 (37%) on fourth down conversions this season.

Noting The LVC Offense
The LVC offense had its best half of the year against FDU-Florham, scoring 26 points in the second half (and 19 in the fourth quarter) last week ... Ben Guiles surpassed 2,000 career yards with his record-tying four touchdown game ... Guiles is averaging 114.7 yards per game ... Blair Ransom, who averages 10 carries and 38.7 yards per game in LVC's “three-headed monster” rushing attack, is out vs. King's ... Pete Panichi will share the load with Guiles ... Caleb Fick was 13-of-28 for 175 yards and a TD against FDU ... Colt Zarilla was also effective, throwing for 75 yards and running four times in three series ... Wide receiver Tim Picerno had a good game, catching six balls for 89 yards ... The tight ends have been in the mix more over the past two games, with Brendan Riley catching a TD last week and Matt Mankiewicz grabbing one vs. Wilkes ... Starting right guard Andrew Scott will not be available for the King's game, snapping a streak of 22 straight starts ... Left guard Tyler Veverka will move to right guard, and freshman Brendan Kozub, who has seen significant time the past three games, will start at left guard with freshman Aaron Cummins backing up ... Back-up left tackle Nate Valdez is also back after missing last week ... LVC has gone for it 19 times on fourth down this year, converting on seven.

Noting the LVC Defense
The LVC defense had about as good of a second half as you could get vs. FDU-Florham, holding the Devils to just 33 yards of offense and no first downs until the meaningless final drive ... They also forced two of their three interceptions in the second half ... The front three of Zach Bleiler, Nick Bowne, and Cory Homer have been outstanding, accounting for 117 tackles, 19.0 TFL, and 9.0 sacks this season ... The linebacking corps has been unsettled on the inside, with Jason Gigous making four starts (43 T, 3 INT), but three different players - AJ Kuhns, DJ Poligone, and Clay Chaney - have gotten starts at the other spot ... AJ Kuhns is #1 on the depth chart for the King's game at inside LB, and Chaney returns for the first time since the season opener to back him up ... Alex Gilchrist (36 T, 10.0 TFL, 4.0 S) and Bryn Duffield (23 T, 3.0 TFL) have been starting on the outside ... After a noticable lack of interceptions to start the season, the defense picked three against FDU-Florham ... Tim Ridewood, Jason Gigous, and Jur'ey Fowlkes all had interceptions, and Fowlkes nearly took his back for six ... Justin Lee got his first start at cornerback last week.

Noting the LVC Special Teams
Kevin Greene took over punting duties from Colt Zarilla in week 2 and has been solid, averaging 34.8 yards per punt and sticking six inside the 20; of his 23 punts, only nine have been returned, for an average of 7.8 yards ... Greene averaged just 26.0 yards on two punts in very challenging winds last week, and Saturday's forecast agains calls for gusts to 25 out of the west ... LVC's return game has been an asset as Nic Shirey is averaging 7.5 yards per punt return and 23.4 yards per kick return, ranking second in the MAC in both ... Brittany Ryan is 14-for-17 on PATs and became LVC's all-time leader in PATs against Wilkes ... LVC has not made a field goal this year, with Sean Fakete missing a long try and Matt Nawracaj missing from 21 vs. Wilkes ... Fakete is expected dress after missing two games, but will be a game-day decision.

Turnover Troubles
A large part of LVC's 2009 success was that they took care of the ball; the Dutchmen were +10 on turnovers last season. In 2010, however, it's been a different story entirely as LVC has developed a case of fumblitis. Lebanon Valley is -9 through six games, which ranks second-worst in the MAC. That includes -8 on fumbles alone - they've given away nine bobbles, and recovered just one.

Guiles Goes Off
Against FDU-Florham, Ben Guiles did something that only three other players in program history had done - he scored four touchdowns on the ground. Impressively, he got all four in the second half, and did them all consecutively. Guiles was named to the MAC Weekly Honor Roll for his performance.

Guiles Reaches 2,000 Career Yards
After going over 100 yards for his second straight game with 126 against FDU-Florham, Ben Guiles because the fifth player in program history to reach 2,000 career yards, and he now has 2,056 yards and 20 touchdowns. He joins an elite list including former teammate Charlie Parker '10, Rick Coleman '78, Ken Wilson '90, and Pete Henning '04.

Bleiler Moves Up Sacks List
Senior DE Zach Bleiler is climbing up the LVC career sacks list, and is now in third place all-time with 21.5 career sacks. He needs 29 to tie the all-time record held by Karl Conrad '89.

Beautiful Day For Some Football
Not to jinx it or anything, but have you noticed how nice the weather has been this season? After the 2009 season, which seemed to have Noah-esque amounts of rain every Saturday, the sunny weather has been a welcome change in 2010, with every LVC game taking place under beautiful conditions. Saturday's forecast is no different, calling for a high of 65, partly cloudy and breezy with westerly gusts to 25 miles per hour. That's especially welcome against King's; the last two games with them have been wash outs, with a steady rain two years ago in Wilkes-Barre, and a lightning-delayed downpour last year on Oktoberfest at home.

Series History
The game is the 12th meeting all-time ... King's leads the series 6-5 ... LVC has won three in a row ... They have met every year since 2003 ... The first meeting was Sept. 30, 1995 at King's, an 18-11 LVC win ... Coach Jim Monos is 5-4 against the Monarchs ... LVC is 6-7 on Oct. 23 ... Oct. 23 happens to be the 90th anniversary of one the more ignominious defeats in LVC history, a 109-7 loss at Penn State in 1920 ... It is also the anniversary of one of LVC's most famous wins, a 46-0 drubbing of Temple in 1909.

King's Scouting Report
The Monarch offense is a pass-heavy unit as they continue to mature with a young offensive line and running corps. King's is averaging 285.8 yards of total offense per game, including 93.2 rushing yards and 192.7 passing yards.  QB Corey Lavin runs the show and has completed 103-of-212 passes for 1,154 yards with eight touchdowns and nine interceptions. The ground game is paced by sophomore Eric Ofcharsky, with 371 rushing yards on 82 carries and a touchdown.  Sophomore David Abdalla tops the receivers with 26 catches for 486 yards and averages 18.7 yards per-reception with three touchdowns. Senior split end Jay Torres adds 17 catches for 215 yards and one touchdown while junior wide-out Glenn Ford also contributes 17 catches for 144 yards and one score.

Defensively, King's has allowed 389.3 yards of total offense per game, including 216.2 rushing and 173.2 passing yards.  Sophomore LB Ryan Kelly is third in the MAC with 68 tackles, including 2.0 sacks. LB Ryan Cordingly follows with 44 tackles with 7.0 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks for 17 lost yards. Senior S Edwyn Edwards adds 39 tackles and an interception, and junior S Jim McHugh has posted 28 tackles with two interceptions.  The Monarch defensive front will be at a large size disadvantage as the Dutchmen offensive line averages 265 pounds per man compared to King's 228 pounds per-man average.

Last Year vs. King's
Lebanon Valley improved to 6-1 for the first time since 1961 as it rolled by King's, 40-14, in front of an enthusiastic Oktoberfest Weekend crowd at Arnold Field. Caleb Fick and Colt Zarilla combined to throw for 193 yards and three touchdowns for LVC, with two TD passes going to Sean Donovan. The two-headed rushing attack of Charlie Parker (109 yards, 1 TD) and Ben Guiles (76 yards) led the Dutchmen to 220 yards on the ground. King's racked up 348 yards of offense and ran for 220 yards, but the LVC defense generated three interceptions on Corey Lavin, including a pick-six by Matt Lillis on his second interception of the day and another grab by Dane Eichelberger.
