ANNVILLE, Pa. - LVC field hockey standout
Alex Wolfe '09 has earned one last award from her outstanding career as she was named a CoSIDA/
ESPN The Magazine Second-Team At-Large Academic All-America on Thursday.
Named to the Academic All-District First Team in May, Wolfe is the third Dutchman field hockey student-athlete to earn academic all-America honors, joining
Casey Iezzi '97 and
Lindsey McCormick '05.
The Academic All-America teams are voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America, and represent the highest level of academic and athletic achievement.
The At-Large team is particularly competitive and prestigious, as it combines nominees from every NAIA and NCAA Division II and III program in the sports of lacrosse, field hockey, bowling, crew, fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, and water polo.
Wolfe, who graduated in May with a B.A. in English and a 3.787 GPA, was a recipient of the NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship, which she will use in pursuing her law degree.
In the fall, Wolfe was named the MASCAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference's highest student-athlete honor. On the field, Wolfe capped an outstanding career as one of the storied program's most prolific offensive producers. In just three seasons after transferring from Lafayette College following her freshman year, Wolfe set LVC's all-time assists mark with 36, and became the seventh Dutchman to reach 100 career points with 136.
A two-time NFHCA All-American, Wolfe was the 2008 Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year and was named to the NFHCA All-Region, First-Team All-Commonwealth, and ECAC First-Team All-Star rolls. She was also selected to play in the NFHCA Senior All-Star game.
