Game 1 Box Score
Game 2 Box Score

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Behind two strong pitching performances by Val Malizzia and Laura Snyder and a resurgent offense, Lebanon Valley closed out the regular season with two wins, 3-0 and 7-2, over the University of Scranton on Tuesday.

The Dutchmen (26-12) will now enter the Commonwealth Conference tournament, starting Friday against Widener at 1 p.m. at host Messiah College.

Malizzia (12-4) was outstanding in the opener, striking out a career-high 15 with no walks as she scattered four hits. Meanwhile, Snyder (10-4) fanned 13 while allowing no earned runs in the second game.

Senior Katie DeJulio, playing her final game at home, was a triple short of the cycle in the nightcap, driving in four runs, including a towering three-run home run in the fourth. Katie Freeman also added a home run in game two.

GAME ONE

LVC got on top in the second inning thanks to RBI singles by Linley Eberhart and Marisa Krause. The Dutchmen tacked on their third run in the fourth with Krause's double to center, and it would be all they needed as Malizzia dominated the rest of the way.

Scranton only seriously threatened in the fifth, putting runners on the corners before Malizzia struck out Mia Collarini to get out of the jam.

Isabel Mendez (5-8) allowed seven hits in the loss for the Royals.

GAME TWO

LVC's bats came alive in the backend of the twinbill, bashing 10 hits and seven runs.

A big four-run second inning put the Dutchmen on top, with Kristen Palmerio leading off with a triple before Freeman crushed her home run to left center. Later in the inning, with two outs, Steph Hulme doubled down the line and Kerri Datres scored her with another double, and DeJulio singled to right to bring in Datres.

Scranton pulled a run back in the fourth with Tia Dimou's single, but LVC put the game out of reach with a three-run fourth on DeJulio's homer.

The Royals used two pitchers, with Kelly Zaccheo (4-4) starting and getting the loss with four runs allowed. Megan Garlasco went four full and allowed three runs.
