Game 1 Box Score
Game 2 Box Score

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Softball Head Coach Stacey Hollinger won her 200th game at Lebanon Valley College as her team split a doubleheader with DeSales University, losing 1-0 and winning 5-0 on Sunday.

The Dutchmen (13-6) saw their 18-game home win streak come to an end in the rematch of last year's NCAA first round game against the Bulldogs (10-6). LVC had not lost at home in nearly a year, since a 1-0 loss to Gettysburg on March 28 of last year.

Hollinger, LVC's all-time winningest coach, is now 200-169 at the Valley.

Laura Snyder (3-3) took the loss in the opener despite seven strong innings, while Val Malizzia improved to 7-0 with a five-hit, six-strikeout shutout in the nightcap. Katie Morrissey allowed four hits to get the win in game one for DeSales, while Christine Petrilla took the loss in game two after allowing four runs on five hits.

Allie Davies led LVC offensively with a pair of doubles in game two, and Katie Freeman hit a two-run single to start a three-run second inning.

GAME ONE

DeSales put one run across in the fifth and it was all they needed as Morrissey shut down the LVC offense for seven innings.

Jamie Pfitzenmayer singled in Kyra Monarek for the game's only run in the fifth, but LVC limited the damage to get out of a jam with runners on the corners.

LVC again was in trouble in the sixth as DeSales loaded the bases, but the Dutchmen worked a force-out at home and induced a pop-out to end the inning.

Meanwhile, Morrissey allowed just two baserunners over the final three innings, and LVC put just one runner in scoring position all game long.

GAME TWO

DeSales threatened quickly in game two, putting Petrilla in scoring position to start the inning. Monarek to right, but Freeman relayed with first baseman Kristen Uhas to get the Petrilla at home, preventing the run and ending the inning.

LVC's bats came alive with a big three-run second inning. With one out, Meghan Donoghue drew a walk, and Davies doubled to right to move Donoghue to third. Freeman then singled through the right side to score both runners, and two batters later, the bases were loaded after a botched fielder's choice failed to get Freeman at third. That set up a chance to Katie DeJulio, who singled home Janey Kozlowski, but Steph Hulme was thrown out at home from right field to end the inning.

LVC padded the lead with Kerri Datres' RBI single to plate Freeman in the fourth, and Marisa Krause's sacrifice fly scored Chelsea Kehr in the sixth.

The Dutchmen will visit Gettysburg Wednesday at 3 p.m.
