Five From Field Hockey Named All-Region

NFHCA All-Region Teams

ANNVILLE, Pa.
- Five Dutchmen have been named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Region Team, including three first-teamers.

Senior back Nikki Bomberger, junior forward Shelly Lobach, and sophomore forward Jocelyn Novak are all first-team selections, while senior goalkeeper Caitlin Baro and freshman forward Caitlin Vasey were named to the second team.

The first-teamers will be eligible for All-America consideration, which will be announced on Nov. 23.

Bomberger, a first-team all-Commonwealth Conference honoree last week, is now a two-time NFHCA All-Region selection at back after earning second-team honors in 2007. Also picked to play in the NFHCA Senior All-Star game this weekend, Bomberger scored six goals and had seven assists on offense this season, and she was also part of a backline that held opponents to 1.22 goals and 9.6 shots per game.

Lobach, a second-team all-region selection last year, was the offensive catalyst for the Dutchmen this season. The First-Team All-CC member became LVC's all-time assists leader as a junior as she dished out 15 helpers and scored 14 goals this year.

Novak partnered with Lobach up front and had a record-breaking season, re-setting her own program marks for goals (35) and points (74) in a season. A third-team all-America last year, Novak ranks among the national leaders in goals, points, goals per game, and points per game.

Baro is a two-time NFHCA All-Region and three-time all-Commonwealth Conference honoree at goalkeeper. One of the top keepers in program history, Baro finished second at LVC in career wins (59) and shutouts (22) and has a career GAA of 1.11. She started 69 consecutive games for LVC after taking over as a sophomore, and will join Bomberger in the Senior All-Star game this weekend.

Vasey, the Commonwealth Conference Rookie of the Year, started the final 13 games of the year and turned in some impressive numbers, scoring 15 goals and 14 assists as a freshman. She finished with 23 points over her final seven games, including 12 points in the postseason.
