M. Soccer Blasts King's, 7-4

Box Score

ANNVILLE, Pa.
- Lebanon Valley and King's combined for 11 goals as LVC came out on top of a wild 7-4 win Tuesday at Herbert Field.

The Dutchmen (9-6-2, 3-3-0 CC) took 25 shots and combined with the Monarchs (9-6-2, 3-2-1 Freedom) to score eight of the 11 goals in the second half. LVC held a 6-0 lead before allowing four King's goals in the final half-hour.

LVC's seven goals marked their highest scoring output since a 7-1 win over Delaware Valley in 2005. The 11 combined goals was the most in an LVC game since the Dutchmen beat Franklin, 9-2, in 1997.

Constant drizzle and wet field conditions added up to plenty of goalscoring, and LVC pounced on King's with 12 first-half shots. Defender Mark Johnson scored on a corner in the 18th minute, scooping up a rebound off Chris Hall's shot after Justin Hutchinson's corner, and the set piece worked again in the 22nd minute when Hall finished on Travis Steedle's assist from a corner.

Conner McAuliffe finished the first-half scoring when he converted Hutchinson's pass from the left for his first goal of the season in the 29th minute.

Eric Woods scored the first of his two goals in the 56th minute, blasting a shot from 25 yards after Steedle's pass through, and the rout was on when Steedle added an unassisted goal in the 58th minute before Woods buried a rebound in the 60th minute to go up 6-0.

But King's didn't quit, and Greg DeMaio hammered a loose ball just past the hour before Alex Martino scored in the 66th minute.

Stephen Simonian got another for the Dutchmen, though, breaking in from the left to finish on his first career goal in the 68th minute.

King's Rob McGuiness and Sean McEnroy each scored out of scrums in the final 10 minutes to cap the scoring.

Andrew Raudensky picked up the win for LVC, making a save and allowing two goals in 70:17 of work; Joseph Krug gave up two late goals in 19:43 of relief. King's Andrew O'Shura made five saves but allowed six goals in the loss, and Richard Melber stopped three and allowed a goal in 26:53.

LVC held a wide 25-10 shots advantage and led 9-4 on corners.

The Dutchmen will host Lycoming on Saturday with a Commonwealth Conference playoff berth on the line.
