Five Things To Know About LVC...
1. LVC will be without injured leading rusher Charlie Parker; Ben Guiles will start at tailback in his place.
2. With a win today and a Delaware Valley loss to Lycoming, LVC could control its own destiny for the MAC championship.
3. Brittany Ryan became just the third female to ever kick a field goal in an NCAA game last week with her hits from 30 and 22 yards.
4. LVC has the MAC's best total offense (380.7 ypg).
5. LVC has the MAC's worst red zone offense (13-of-27).

Five Things To Know About King's...
1. King's has not scored a touchdown in its last two games.
2. King's averages just 82 yards rushing per game; in the last two games, they have rushed for 34 yards (Widener) and 49 yards (Albright).
3. Quarterback Olayinka Soda averages 197 yards passing per game, but has thrown nine interceptions this season.
4. The Monarchs have a +8 turnover ratio.
5. King's has the MAC's worst scoring offense (15.0 ppg) and second-worst scoring defense (23.3 ppg).

That Wacky MAC
It's the final weekend in October, and five — yes, five — teams are tied for the lead in the MAC at 2-1. Lebanon Valley, Delaware Valley, Lycoming, Wilkes, and Albright are all still in the mix for the MAC title, with FDUFlorham and Widener lurking a game behind. This weekend should provide some separation in the conference with Del Val heading to Lycoming and Wilkes visiting Albright. LVC fans will want to root for a Delaware Valley loss, which would put destiny in the hands of the Dutchmen, who have Albright, FDU, and Lyco left after King's.

Ryan Makes History
With a pair of field goals in LVC's 20-13 overtime win against Widener last week, kicker Brittany Ryan became only the third female kicker to ever make a field goal in an NCAA game, after West Alabama's Tonya Butler (2003) and Framingham State's Ashley Baker (2007). Ryan struck field goals from 30 and 22 yards in the game. On Sunday, Ryan was named to the MAC Weekly Honor Roll for her performance, which also included two PATs, including one in overtime. Ryan is now the leading female scorer in NCAA Division III history with 33 career points; the overall record is held by Butler, who scored 87 points for Division II West Alabama from 2003-04.

The Big Blockers
A major part of LVC's run success this season has been an outstanding blocking scheme led by fullback Bryan Lynch. All three of LVC's running backs who have seen significant touches average 4.0 yards per carry or better: Cruz Mannherz (6.6 ypc), Charlie Parker (4.8 ypc), and Ben Guiles (4.0 ypc), while Lynch himself averages 4.9 ypc on 12 carries. The Dutchmen will also use a Power-I package in short-yardage with freshman defensive tackle Nick Bowne as the extra blocker.

Red Zone Woes
Despite having the MAC's top-rated offense producing 380 yards per game, LVC ranks dead last in red zone offense, converting just 13 of 27 chances (13 of 27). The Dutchmen are just three of eight on field goal tries, although Brittany Ryan, now the starting placekicker, is 2-for-2. LVC has also committed nine turnovers inside the 20, four more than the next-worst team, King's.

LVC 20, Widener 13 (OT)
Freshman Ben Guiles scored a go-ahead touchdown in overtime and the Lebanon Valley defense stopped Widener on their possession as LVC won, 20-13, in overtime on Oktoberfest Weekend. It was LVC's first win over the Pride at home since 1992. LVC converted a fourth-and-15 in overtime with a Caleb Fick strike to Joe Brennan, and a 13-yard pass to Scott Klein set up Guiles to put LVC up 20-13. On their turn, Widener's Al Humes was sacked by Brian Cottone and Daryl Buck on first down to back the Pride up to the 30, but two passes put them on the seven with a chance for a first down at the two-yard line. On fourth-and-five, Humes completed to Tim Kilkenny, and Cottone made the hit to set up a measurement for first down. The capacity Oktoberfest crowd stood waiting to erupt as the officials brought out the chains. The Pride were a foot short, giving the Dutchmen the win. The win salvaged a terrible day for LVC in the red zone as they converted three of eight chances; LVC's defense held Widener to 197 yards of total offense, including 35 yards and one first down in the first half.

Scouting King's
King's has lost five in a row after an opening-week win against Randolph-Macon and has failed to score a touchdown in its last two games. An anemic offense has found some success in the air, with sophomore quarterback Olayinka Soda leading the team with 211.8 yards of total offense per game. Junior wide receiver Mike Verbitski tops the receivers with 28 catches for 456 yards and five touchdowns. The run game has been ice-cold, however, and King's banged-up backfield will see fourth-string Richard Maerten getting his first career start at tailback. On defense, King's has yielded 347.3 yards of total offense per game, including 174.2 rushing yards and 172.5 passing yards each contest. Senior linebacker Matt Rhodes tops the team with 48 total tackles, including 6.0 tackles for loss.

Last Year
Senior Adam Brossman '08 caught the go-ahead touchdown with 7:25 left in the fourth quarter as LVC snapped a four-game losing skid by beating King's, 13-9, at Arnold Field. Charlie Parker had a prodigious day on the ground, rushing 37 times for 152 yards with a touchdown. Brossman caught three passes for 58 yards, including his 31-yard touchdown haul in the fourth quarter. The LVC defense played well, allowing the King's offense just three points. The Monarchs' lone touchdown came when Tore Alaimo blocked an LVC punt at the goal line and fell on it for a score, ruining an otherwise sparkling punting afternoon by Brossman, who had six punts and averaged 43.8 yards with two longer than 50 yards.
