Parker Closes In On Touchdown Record

Junior tailback Charlie Parker, who earlier this season became LVC's fourth 2,000-yard rusher, is now closing in on LVC's all-time rushing touchdown mark of 23, held by Ken Wilson. Parker currently has 19 career TDs, tying him for third with former great Frank Tavani (now head coach of Lafayette College) behind all-time leading rusher Rick Coleman, who had 21 touchdowns.

No Sophomore Slump for Fick
Sophomore quarterback Caleb Fick has been a solid presence under center for the Dutchmen this season. He has completed 57.1 percent of his passes (36-of-63) with six touchdowns and just one interception, improved over his 50 percent completion rate last year, when he also had seven TD's to 13 interceptions.

Scouting Wilkes

The Colonels have started out 0-3, but their losses came to teams that are a combined 7-1, including #5 Muhlenberg. They are led on the ground by Jamar Beverly (46.3 ypg) and Harry Reese (45.3 ypg), but look to go-to receiver Jason Prushinski (88 ypg, 3 TDs). Rob Johnson has been solid at quarterback, completing 35-of-69 passes for 481 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Defensively,
Wilkes is vulnerable to the run, allowing 162 yards per game and five touchdowns on the ground this
year. However, the Colonel defense is the MAC's top unit in stopping third downs, allowing opponents to
covert just eight chances this season.

Last Year
Lebanon Valley took Wilkes to overtime, but the Colonels scored a touchdown before LVC turned it over in the extra period and Wilkes prevailed, 29-22. Caleb Fick threw a career-high 304 yards on 24-of-42 passing but tossed three interceptions, including the game-stopper in overtime. Adam Brossman caught 12 passes for 180 yards, while Charlie Parker ran 19 times for 65 yards. Alex Pearson was the catalyst for Wilkes as he racked up 169 yards on the ground.

Series Notes
Today's game is the 37th meeting all-time between LVC and Wilkes ... Wilkes has won 13 in a row ... LVC's last win was during Jim Monos' first tenure at LVC, a 26-20 win on Oct. 10, 1992 ... By comparison, most of this year's freshman class was just two years old the last time LVC beat Wilkes ... During Wilkes' 13-game win streak, the Colonels pitched six shutouts and held the Dutchmen to 10 or fewer points nine times ... LVC won five straight in the series from 1988 to 1992 ... The two teams first met nearly 55 years ago to the day, on Oct. 3, 1953, a 15-6 LVC victory in Lebanon ... Jim Monos is 5-8 against Wilkes ... LVC is 6-8-2 all-time on Oct. 4.

What's With October 4?
The date of October 4 has seen some of the oddest match-ups in LVC football history, against both the famous and the obscure. In the early years, LVC played current NCAA FCS programs Bucknell (a 45-0 loss in 1913) and Villanova (a 0-0 thriller in 1919), and hopped a train to North Jersey to lose 56-0 to Rutgers in 1924. The Dutchmen headed to Happy Valley in 1930 to lose 27-0 to Penn State. And who could forget LVC's big 28-6 win over Arkansas A&M (now NCAA Division II Arkansas-Monticello) in Hershey in 1940? That game sported an unusual mascot match-up as the Flying Dutchmen took on the Weevils.

Moravian 23, LVC 16
Moravian College scored a fourth-quarter go-ahead touchdown to deal Lebanon Valley College its first loss of the season, 23-16, on Sept. 20. The Dutchmen took the lead early in the fourth quarter on Charlie
Parker's
eight-yard touchdown run, but the Greyhounds scored late, then killed the clock after stopping an LVC drive. Sophomore Joe Brennan went over 100 yards receiving for the second straight game, catching six passes for 109 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown. Caleb Fick was solid, going 17-of-28 for 228 yards and a TD, but Moravian's defense pressured him all day, leading to four sacks. Moravian relied on its threepronged rushing attack, racking up 264 yards in all including Tyler McCambridge's 119 yards, Tyler deRouen's 74-yard effort, and 71 yards by Morgan deRouen.

Next Week
The Dutchmen head to #16 Delaware Valley College for a 1 p.m. game.
