#13 DVC Slips Away From Football, 26-14

Box Score

DOYLESTOWN, Pa.
- Lebanon Valley College put a scare into #13 Delaware Valley College, but the Aggies scored two unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter to pull away and win, 26-14, in MAC action Saturday.

The Dutchmen (3-2, 1-1 MAC) carried a 14-13 lead into the fourth before the Aggies' (4-1, 2-0 MAC) Matt Cook took control of the game with two of his four rushing touchdowns. Cook ended up with 233 yards overall.

With his two touchdowns, Charlie Parker tied the LVC all-time rushing touchdown record of 23 held by Ken Wilson '90. The junior once again cleared 100 yards, running for 156 yards and two touchdowns

The Aggie offense was overwhelming in the fourth quarter as DVC marched out 418 yards of total offense, including 277 yards on the ground. Cook and the Aggie offensive line were simply dominant, averaging 6.6 yards a carry as the back tied a program record with his four touchdowns.

With the game taking place on the ground, both quarterbacks were quiet. Caleb Fick went 13-for-23 for 122 yards, while Mike Isgro put up similar numbers at 11-for-15 for 141 yards.

Defensively for the Dutchmen, Andrew Shambach and Brian Cottone each racked up eight tackles and a sack, while Bruno Iozzo came up with seven stops and a fumble recovery.

After a scoreless opening, both sides traded touchdowns in the second quarter. LVC struck first when Parker broke loose for a 19-yard touchdown, but Cook responded on the next drive with a 52-yard haul to make it 7-7.

Parker's second score came with 1:30 to go in the half, punching through the line for a one-yard dive. Del Val drove quickly, and Cook also scored from a yard out with seconds left. The Aggie PAT try was no good, however, giving the Dutchmen a 14-13 edge heading into the half.

After neither side could capitalize in the third, Cook again made the difference as he found a huge hole to score from five yards out three minutes into the fourth quarter, putting Del Val up five after a failed two-point conversion.

The missed extra points wouldn't matter, however, as Cook again scored from the goal line to make it 26-14.

LVC had a final chance to get the ball back, but Nic Shirey fumbled the reception and the Aggies recovered to run out the clock.
