Football Routes Moravian, 55-21, on Senior Day

ANNVILLE, Pa – Senior Dan Kelly set a single-game school record with six touchdown passes, and junior receiver Adam Brossman tied his own school record with four touchdown catches, all in the first half, as Lebanon Valley defeated Moravian College 55-21 in Middle Atlantic Conference football action on LVC's Senior Day Saturday afternoon at Arnold Field.

With the win, Lebanon Valley (5-4, 4-4 MAC) is guaranteed to finish .500 or better for the first time since the 1993 team went 5-5.

The win was never in doubt for the Flying Dutchmen, who outscored the Greyhounds 21-0 over the game's opening 5:28. The Dutchmen led 21-7 at the end of the first quarter and 41-14 at halftime.

Kelly finished the game with 201 yards on 17-of-22 passing. Kelly had shared the previous school record for touchdown passes in a game with Dallas Noll '03 after he threw for five TDs in each of the Valley's final two games last season at Moravian and versus Albright. Brossman, who finished with 117 yards on seven receptions, originally set his school record when he caught four touchdown passes against Moravian last season.

The Dutchmen's 55 points marked the team's highest offensive output since their 56-48 win over Delaware Valley in 2001. It was also Lebanon Valley's highest point total at home since a 63-14 win over Bridgewater (Va.) in 1989.

Freshman Charlie Parker rushed for a season-high 142 yards and one touchdown for the Dutchmen while Tyler McCambridge ran for 148 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including a 56-yarder on the first play from scrimmage in the second half, for Moravian (4-5, 4-5 MAC).

Senior tailback David Ochoa added 61 yards rushing, including 56 in the second half, for LVC while senior receiver Brandon Shank caught five passes for 51 yards and two touchdowns.

After Parker rushed for an 8-yard touchdown on the first possession of the game, Moravian fumbled the first two times it touched the ball, and both giveaways led to Lebanon Valley touchdowns. The Greyhounds fumbled on the kickoff following Parker's touchdown, and Bryan Lynch recovered it at the Moravian-41. On the very next play, freshman Matt Donley hit Brossman for a 41-yard wide receiver option touchdown pass, making it 14-0.

Moravian then fumbled on its first play from scrimmage, with Lebanon Valley's Dan Stauffer recovering at the LVC-39. Four plays later, Kelly found Brossman for a 31-yard touchdown pass, as the Valley's lead grew to 21-0.

The Greyhounds got on the scoreboard with 2:51 left in the opening quarter when Kris Bisci pulled in a 5-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Rempe. But Kelly connected with Brossman again on the first play of the second quarter, this time from 5 yards out, to make it 27-7.

McCambridge's first touchdown of the day, an 11-yard rush, cut the gap to 27-14 with 10:58 to go in the half. But Kelly threw a pair of touchdown passes over the final 7:56 of the stanza, hitting Brossman for a 7-yarder before finding senior tight end Dave Zimmerman from 2 yards out with 25 seconds left.

The scoreboard read 41-21 at the of the third quarter before Kelly and Shank hooked up for touchdowns passes of 10 and 7 yards in the final period.

Freshman Dan DiBona was a perfect 4-for-4 on extra points while classmate Josh Evans was 2-for-3 for the Dutchmen.

Junior Clint Vinju had three kickoffs returns for 85 yards while returning two punts for 15 yards.

Moravian linebacker Kevin McGorry led all players with 13 tackles. Freshman linebacker Will Keylor forced a pair of fumbles and made a season-high nine tackles, including a sack, for the Dutchmen. Junior linebacker Terry Kaufman added eight tackles and a sack while sophomore linebacker Steve Janda contributed seven tackles and a half sack.

Lebanon Valley plays its regular season finale on Saturday, when it visits Albright College at 1 p.m.
