Scott Reynolds has been Lebanon Valley College’s Head Volleyball Coach since 2021.
During his tenure as a collegiate Head Coach, Reynolds holds a 100-143 overall record in 10 seasons at Dickinson College and LVC. He has led these teams to four postseason appearances, all of which have been with the Dutchmen. Reynolds has also coached two American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America selections (Taylor McInerney ’24 twice) at Lebanon Valley.
In his five years at the helm for the Flying Dutchmen, Reynolds has led the program to a 70-60 overall record and four trips to the conference tournament. He guided Lebanon Valley to the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom Championship final during its first season in the conference in 2023. In addition to the two All-America selections, the Dutchmen have been recognized for their success with two AVCA All-Region Four accolades (McInerney twice), one MAC Freedom Player of the Year award (McInerney), and 10 All-Conference honors.
McInerney graduated from Lebanon Valley after etching her name into the top five of several statistical categories in the program’s record book. Upon graduation, McInerney was tied for the most kills in a match by an LVC player, as she recorded 35 kills for the Flying Dutchmen during a 3-1 victory over Dickinson on Sept. 6, 2023.
Prior to his time at LVC, Reynolds had an already impressive volleyball résumé with experience as a Head Coach at the college level. From 2011 to 2015, Reynolds spent four seasons at the helm for Dickinson in Carlisle, Pa. During his tenure at Dickinson, Reynolds turned out three All-Conference players.
With a large part of his coaching philosophy focused on being successful both on and off the court, Reynolds has set a high academic standard during his career as a Head Coach. In his five years at LVC, one student-athlete has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America First Team (McInerney), one player has been chosen as the CSC Academic All-America Team Member of the Year (McInerney), and one member of the Dutchmen has been selected as the MAC Women's Volleyball Senior Scholar-Athlete (McInerney). Additionally, 49 student-athletes have been listed on the MAC Academic Honor Roll, 16 players have been selected to the CSC Academic All-District Team, and three athletes have been named to the Fall Academic All-MAC Team. The Dutchmen have also earned the Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) four times, including two years from the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and the AVCA. Reynolds led Dickinson to one AVCA Team Academic Award as well.
Reynolds’ collegiate volleyball background also includes his role as a Student Assistant Coach for California University of Pennsylvania’s women’s volleyball team from 1999 to 2001, while pursuing his education. In the 2000 season, the team made a run for the NCAA Division II title, winning the Atlantic Region and exiting as a national semifinalist. This was the program’s best finish in school history.
In addition to his college coaching experience, Reynolds has spent time coaching at a variety of high-performance volleyball clubs. While living in Denver, Colo., from 2001 to 2004, Reynolds had the fortunate pleasure of coaching at Front Range Volleyball Club. During his time with the club, he coached under the direction of National Team Technical Advisor Jim Miret, and in 2002, the club secured the 18’s Open national title. Reynolds also spent a brief time as a Head Coach for Fusion Volleyball Club in Camp Hill, Pa., for one season, which was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, Reynolds has worked locally with several organizations. As the Head Coach of the Cumberland Valley boys’ volleyball team from 2006 to 2010, his program had a string of successes, including being District III Champions in 2008, Mid-Penn League Champions from 2006 to 2010, and 2008 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) State Volleyball AAA Champions. This was the first volleyball championship won by a boys’ team in the school’s history. Reynolds was named Mid-Penn Coach of the Year in both 2006 and 2010. Cumberland Valley also had eight All-State selections during his time with the team.
Other notable volleyball experiences include being named a Keystone Region Volleyball Association High-Performance Evaluator. Reynolds holds various certifications, including an IMPACT USA Coaching Certificate and Level I and II Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Teaching certificates.
Reynolds is a graduate of California University of Pennsylvania, where he holds both a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Science in Sports Management.
Reynolds is a resident of Mechanicsburg, Pa., where he lives with his wife Nichole and their two children, Teaguen ’27 and Avery, both of whom are avid volleyball players.
