Former St. Mary's (Md.) standout Joanna Murray enters her second season as a women's basketball assistant coach in 2019-20.
Murray most recently worked at Wesley College since August of 2016. She was an assistant coach for the Wolverines before being promoted to associate head coach in 2017. Prior to her time at Wesley, Murray was an assistant coach at her alma mater, St. Mary's College of Maryland. In 2014-15, Murray played as a shooting guard for the Gem City Lady Slam, a member of the Women's Universal Basketball Association (WUBA).
Since 2011, Murray has been the commissioner and coach of the Wootten Basketball Camp where she guides skill development drills and activities to go along with mentoring campers and supervising the league of up to eight coaches and teams.
Murray graduated from St. Mary's in 2013 with a degree in economics, and was a two-year standout after transferring from Bowie State. As a Seahawk, Murray was an All-Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Second Team pick in her senior season after totaling 474 points, 174 rebounds, 93 assists, 64 steals, and 19 blocks. During her two-year career, she started 48 of 49 games.
Murray is currently pursuing her Master of Arts degree in Sport Leadership at Wesley.
