Harry Perretta has been a volunteer assistant to his former player at Villanova, Diane Decker, since the 2021-22 season.
Perretta served as the head coach of the Wildcats for 42 years, tying the record with Yvonne Kaufmann (Elizabethtown) for most years spent coaching at a single institution.
Perretta finished his career at Villanova with 765 career wins, ranking him 13th on the all-time list amongst Division I coaches. Under his direction, the Wildcats reached the NCAA Tournament 11 times, made 11 WNIT appearances, and won 17 BIG EAST titles, 12 outright and five shared. He also coached 77 all-BIG EAST performers including 17 first-team players.
In 2015-16, Perretta became the 14th overall Division I women’s basketball coach to eclipse 700 career victories. He also is third in BIG EAST history, men’s and women’s basketball, in career wins, trailing only Syracuse’s Jim Boeheim and UConn’s Geno Auriemma.
