Doug Yingst 2023-24

Doug Yingst

Doug Yingst has been an Assistant Coach for Lebanon Valley's Men's Ice Hockey team since the 2017-18 season.

Yingst also serves as the Director of Corporate Relations and Athletic Giving here at the Valley, after his retirement as the President and General Manager of the Hershey Bears in 2016. He served as President and GM from the 1997-98 season to 2015-16. During that stretch, the Bears, members of the American Hockey League (AHL) hoisted the Calder Cup five times, making him the winningest executive in Bears' history. His five championships are an AHL record as a President/General Manager, and from 2006-2010, the Bears played for the Calder Cup four times and won three (2006, 2009, 2010).

The AHL recognized Yingst many times throughout his illustrious career: He was named the winner of the Thomas Ebright Award, presented annually for outstanding career contributions to the AHL and he's also a two-time winner of the James C. Handy Memorial Award, presented to a team executive for their contributions to the AHL.

Yingst began his career in 1982, serving as the Bears' Sales and Promotions Director before moving into an Assistant General Manager position in 1988 alongside legendary GM Frank Mathers.

He has numerous ties to LVC. His grandson, Zach, was a student-athlete and played ice hockey at LVC while his sister, brother, and son all earned degrees from the Valley.
