Will Cabrera returned to Lebanon Valley College as a men’s basketball assistant coach in August 2021. He also serves as the program's Recruiting Coordinator. In addition to his basketball duties Cabrera is the Athletic Department's Athletic Diversity Inclusion Designee which includes representing the school at MAC and NCAA meetings.
Cabrera spent two seasons as an assistant under Coach McAlester from 2015 to 2017. He helped the Flying Dutchmen to 32 wins and a pair of MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament appearances. Under his tutelage as a top assistant, Sam Light and Andy Orr combined to earn 11 all-region/area honors and four first-team all-conference accolades.
Most recently, Cabrera spent four seasons as the head coach at Mount Aloysius College. In 2018-19, Cabrera led the Mounties to their first winning season since 2012-13. That year also included the program’s first home playoff game, postseason win, and first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference tournament semifinal appearance. The Mounties qualified for three consecutive conference tournament appearances from 2018 through 2020.
Before his first stint at LVC, Cabrera was the head coach at Impact Preparatory in York, Pa. He also spent time at the NCAA Division II level as an assistant at Mansfield for two seasons beginning in 2012. He coached three seasons as an assistant on the sidelines at Messiah, his alma mater, including 2011-12, when they won the MAC Commonwealth title and earned an NCAA Tournament berth. At both stops, he also served as the recruiting coordinator.
Cabrera was born in Paraguay and spent his early years growing up and playing basketball in Bolivia. He graduated from Messiah with a bachelor of science degree in human development and family education in 2007 and played three seasons for the Falcons after transferring from the NAIA’s College of Notre Dame in California. Cabrera resides in Annville, Pa., with his daughter Alexis.
