Scott Mailen ’82 will enter his 27th season as an assistant coach at Lebanon Valley College in 2014-15 and is responsible for post player instruction.
A standout forward for the Dutchmen, he completed his playing career as fourth on Lebanon Valley’s all-time scoring list and is currently eighth with 1,480 points. A four-year starter and a three-time team MVP, he was also an All-MAC and All-Middle Atlantic Region performer. Mailen is a past recipient of the Chuck Maston Memorial Award.
On Oct. 14, 1995, he was inducted into the Lebanon Valley College Athletic Hall of Fame. He is a past chairman of the Rinso Marquette Tournament and currently serves as a member of the Lebanon Valley College Alumni Athletic Committee.
Mailen has mentored numerous standouts, including two-time national player of the year Andy Panko '99, all-region center Darren Pugh '03, and most recently all-America forward Danny Brooks '13.
Mailen earned a bachelor of science degree in social service from Lebanon Valley in 1982 and a master of science degree in administration of juvenile justice from Shippensburg University in 1987. For 13 years, he served as a probation officer in the Lebanon County Juvenile Probation Office, and for 10 years Mailen was employed by the Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit No. 13 as the administrative coordinator for the Lebanon County Alternative Education Program. He is currently employed by the Lancaster Family YMCA as program director for Camp Shand in Cornwall, Pa. Mailen resides in Annville with his wife, Karen ’82, and their five children, Alissa, Scott Thomas, Isabelle, Megan, and Abigail.
