Lebanon Valley College has added former Alvernia University ace Shane Zellers to its baseball coaching staff for 2015.
Zellers, an all-American and two-time conference pitcher of the year for the Crusaders, will serve as an assistant to head coach Keith Evans. He comes to McGill Field after a highly successful stint as a varsity assistant and pitching coach at Tri-Valley High School. In four years at TVHS, Zellers helped them go to four straight PIAA District XI finals appearances, winning district titles in 2011 and 2013 as they went 71-22 over four years.
Zellers, who signed with the Washington Nationals organization after college and played short-season A ball with the Vermont Lake Monsters, has also coached at Perfect Game, Diamond Nation, Ripken Experience, and Baseball Heaven, while also working with travel teams and instruction for the Mid-State Mavericks academy based in Palmyra.
As a collegiate pitcher at Alvernia, the righthander went 22-10 with a 2.86 career ERA, earning second-team all-America honors in 2010 as he was named the Commonwealth Conference Pitcher of the year.
