Head Coach Jonas Fester has announced Beth Woerner has joined the Flying Dutchmen’s coaching staff as a full-time assistant coach in August of 2021. Beth will be one of the few female assistant baseball coaches in the NCAA and is presumed to be the only full-time assistant.

“We are thrilled to welcome Beth to the LVC Baseball program as a full-time assistant coach,” said Fester. “Her breadth of experience in and around the game will help our program immensely. She is also a true trailblazer in the industry and great role model for young baseball players throughout the country. I’d also like to thank Rick Beard ’90, M’92 and President MacLaren for their leadership and support in growing our program.”

Most recently, Woerner worked at the University of Charleston West Virginia (UCWV) as an assistant coach where she prepared and organized daily scouting reports, managed baseball technology and data via the Rapsodo, Blast, and Win Reality, planned and taught infield defensive skill training sessions, and set student-athletes up for success in the classroom as the team’s academic point of contact.

This past May, Woerner received her Masters of Strategic Leadership from UCWV and before her time in Charleston, she worked as a program manager at Baseball Prospectus where she collaborated with a cross-functional team of analysts and developers to support ongoing editorial and statistical projects to support the website.

Woerner has a plethora of playing experience, as she’s a member of the DC Thunder and Baltimore Pirates. Additionally, she served as treasurer of the Eastern Women’s Baseball Conference in 2019 and was an at-large board member.

She holds several certifications, including Driveline Foundations of Pitching, Driveline Pitch Design, K-Motion K Baseball Level 1, Rapsodo Pitching, and Rapsodo Hitting.

Woerner graduated from James Madison University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Anthropology and Archaeology.
