SAAC Constitution
Article I: Mission Statement
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Lebanon Valley College is a dynamic group of student-athlete team leaders who, by working together, develop and strengthen a sense of personal responsibility and wellness among student-athletes, the administration and the community. More specifically the SAAC Members will serve as student athlete mentors for their team in regard to student athlete affairs which include: Academic Excellence, Athletic Excellence, Personal Development, Career Development and Community Service. We are dedicated to representing the interests of our fellow student-athletes for the betterment of athletics at LVC. For this, the vehicle to promote communication between coaches, athletic administration and student-athletes.
The role of the SAAC is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by:
• Providing a student-athlete voice within the department, discussing issues and concerns, and providing feedback as necessary.
• Building a sense of community within the athletics program involving all athletic teams.
• Encouraging active involvement of student-athletes for community service projects.
• Emphasizing the need of support from faculty and staff for all athletic programs.
• Promoting a positive image of athletics on campus by celebrating and generating excitement for our unique community.
• Fostering achievement of academic and athletic goals.
• Receiving valuable training leadership.
• Using educational and professional resources to support our efforts.

Article II: Members
1. All members must be a member of a varsity sport, or a student-trainer.
2. Each varsity sport should have at least two representatives on SAAC.
3. Coaches will select members to represent their teams, who display desirable leadership characteristics, reflect the diverse character of their teams, and demonstrate enthusiasm for service
The length of service shall be from their induction to their graduation unless asked to leave or they choose to step down from their position. If a SAAC member no longer wants to participate they must find a suitable replacement with the coach’s approval.
Article III: Meetings
1. SAAC meetings will be held at least once a month.
2. Additional meetings will be added at the discretion of the executive board and the advisor.
3. Notification of meetings will be received via e-mail at least a week ahead of time.
Article IV: Attendance
1. SAAC meetings are mandatory for at least one delegate from each team. (Both delegates are preferred to be present.)
2. Each SAAC member will be permitted 2 unexcused absences. (An unexcused absence occurs when a member misses a meeting without informing and executive board member or the advisor. If a SAAC member has a valid excuse and needs to miss a meeting, he or she must inform an executive board member or the advisor via email or telephone.)
3. If a SAAC member receives more than 2 unexcused absences, the executive board and the advisor will meet to discuss his or her eligibility. If the board and the advisor feel that the member has not met the requirements, he or she will be asked to resign his or her position on SAAC.
4. If it is decided that the SAAC member is able to retain his or her position, he or she must attend every meeting thereafter. The next unexcused absence accumulated will result in an immediate expulsion from SAAC.
Article V: Committees
1. All SAAC members must be involved in at least one committee each academic year.
2. Each committee must have 2-3 chairpersons, who may nominate themselves or be nominated by the committee.
3. The chairperson is responsible for the following: meeting time, attendance, and delegation of duties for his/her committee
4. The chairpersons are to give a report to the entire SAAC at each SAAC meeting and there needs to be able to give a short written report to the president at each monthly meeting.

Article VII: Executive Board
Section I: Officers
President: The president will preside over all meetings. They will serve as the spokesperson for SAAC. They will be responsible for and supervise the activities of the committees, maintaining close contact with the members of the committee and with the advisors.
Vice-President: The vice-president shall serve in place of the president when he/she is not able to do so. They will provide assistance to the duties of the president. They will also be responsible for keeping in contact with the committees chairs in between monthly meetings.
Secretary: The secretary will actively take minutes at each meeting, and is responsible for taking attendance at each meeting. They will also distribute the minutes to all coaches and SAAC members.
Treasurer: The treasurer will be responsible for collecting and keeping fundraising monies. The treasurer is also responsible for keeping track of the financial records, including receipts and check requests, as well as any other miscellaneous expenses.
Section II: Terms of the Executive Board
1. In order to be elected as an officer, the candidate must have served on the SAAC for at least one year.
2. All officers serve a term of one year, beginning the first month of the fall semester.
3. An officer will be eligible for re-election for a consecutive term providing he/she will be attending the college as a full-time student for another term of one year.
