Located in nearby Hershey, historic Hersheypark Arena is the former home of the AHL’s Hershey Bears and has been home to LVC men's ice hockey since its inception in 1998-99, and will house LVC women's ice hockey starting in 2016-17. The first ice hockey-specific arena built in North America, the Arena hosted the Bears from 1936 to 2002, when they moved down the road to the new GIANT Center. During that span, Hersheypark Arena held 18 Calder Cup finals and three AHL all-star games.
One of the most historic sporting arenas in North America, Hersheypark Arena was the world’s largest monolithic structure when it was built, boasting a concrete domed roof that allows every seat an unobstructed view of the ice.
In addition to ice hockey, the Arena has hosted many notable events. It was the site of Wilt Chamberlain’s famous 100-point basketball game in 1962, and has hosted PIAA basketball and wrestling championships, concerts, and special events like the Harlem Globetrotters and the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
LVC also occasionally plays games at GIANT Center, the state-of-the-art 12,500-seat home of the Bears that opened in 2002.
