GENEVA, N.Y. – Lauren Foster scored the game-winning goal in the 56th minute to lead the Lebanon Valley College field hockey team to an impressive 2-1 victory over previously unbeaten St. Lawrence University on Saturday afternoon at the William Smith Classic.
After a scoreless first quarter that featured two total shots, LVC began generating pressure in the second period behind several penalty corner opportunities. The Dutchmen finally broke through at the 22:16 mark when
Claire Weidenhammer found the back of the cage to give LVC a 1-0 lead. The goal capped a strong stretch of play. The Saints started to gain momentum before the end of the half, putting three shots on goal.
St. Lawrence pushed back after halftime and found the equalizer 35:32 into the contest. Following an initial save by goalkeeper
Ella Weidenhammer, the Saints converted on the rebound to tie the match at 1-1 midway through the third quarter.
The Dutchmen responded in the fourth quarter with the game-winning sequence. After earning a penalty corner with 5:27 remaining,

LVC's defense made the lead stand over the final five minutes. The Dutchmen limited St. Lawrence's chances late and took the last shot of the game as
Danika Setlock sent a shot wide off a corner in the 55th minute.
Inside the Box
- Foster scored her fifth career game-winning goal. The junior recorded her first points of the year with her 55th-minute goal.
- Claire Weidenhammer continued her torrid start to the season with three more points on one goal and one assist. She has scored six goals so far in the three games and has 14 points. The forward took a team-high four shots.
- Ella Weidenhammer made a season-high six saves in goal.
- Reese Arnold took two shots while Jillian Tait, Foster, and Setlock took one each.
- The Dutchmen improved to 10-1 against St. Lawrence at the William Smith Classic and have won the past five meetings, including three by a 2-1 score.
