Women’s Tennis Clinches Home Semifinal Match with Senior Day Sweep

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's tennis team stayed unbeaten in conference play with a 7-0 Senior Day victory over DeSales University on Tuesday afternoon at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
 
LVC (14-3, 5-0 MAC Freedom) clinched a home semifinals match next Tuesday in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship with the victory and set up a battle for the top-seed on Saturday with Stevens Institute of Technology. DeSales (6-8, 3-2 MAC Freedom) will play Misericordia University on Saturday to determine the third and fourth seeds. The Dutchmen swept all nine matches to improve to 25-2 in singles and 12-1 in doubles during conference play.
 
Inside the Box
  • Erika Badner and Catherine Stone cruised to a 6-0 victory at number one doubles to improve to 6-2 on the season. The duo is 3-1 in conference matches.
  • Katie Berra and Gigi Guay clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win at number three. They played as partners for the first time this season.
  • Nikki Denbowski and Sarah McComas finished shortly after at number two with a 6-2 win. The seniors are 4-2 as partners this year and 4-0 in conference play.
  • McComas was the first singles court done with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory at number one. She is 3-1 in conference matches and is 8-6 in dual matches this year.
  • Megan Martin finished next on court three with a 6-1, 6-2 win. The junior improved to 7-3 in duals and 2-0 in conference matches.
  • Stone clinched the win with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at number two. The junior won her 13th dual of the year and improved to 3-1 in the MAC Freedom.
  • Berra made quick work at number four with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. She is 11-1 in duals and 4-0 in conference matches this season.
  • Denbowski improved to 7-2 on the year and 2-0 in conference matches with a 6-1, 6-0 win at number five.
  • Guay stayed unbeaten in singles play with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at number six. The senior is 8-0 on the season and 4-0 in conference.

LVC will battle Stevens for the top seed in next week's conference tournament on Saturday. First serves are scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Bayonne Tennis Courts in Bayonne, New Jersey.
