Kelly Earns Three-Set Win at Stevens

BAYONNE, N.J. – Laken Kelly won a thrilling three-set match at number six singles as the Lebanon Valley women's tennis team dropped a tough 6-1 decision at Stevens Institute of Technology in the regular season finale.
 
The nationally ranked Ducks won all three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches to win the regular season championship and earn the top seed in this week's Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship. The Dutchmen (14-4, 5-1 MAC Freedom) will be the second seed and host a Tuesday semifinal match.
 
Inside the Box
  • Kelly earned LVC's lone point of the match with a 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) victory at number six singles in the final match of the day to finish.
  • Erika Badner also went three sets in singles, as the sophomore dropped a tough 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3) decision at number four singles.
  • Megan Martin fell 6-4, 6-0 at number three singles, while Sarah McComas dropped a tough 6-1, 6-1 decision at number two singles.
  • Catherin Stone dropped her number one singles match 6-0, 6-1, while Katie Berra fell 6-1, 6-0 at number five singles.
  • Badner and Stone were the only doubles team to win a game as they dropped a 6-2 match at number one.
  • McComas and Nikki Denbowski fell 6-0 at number two doubles, while Berra and Martin also fell 6-0 at number three doubles.
Up Next
The second-seeded Dutchmen will host third-seeded Misericordia University on Tuesday in the semifinals. First serves are scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
