Men’s Lacrosse Earns Big Win over FDU-Florham

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's lacrosse team posted a huge 18-6 victory over FDU-Florham on Wednesday evening at Arnold Field behind a strong all-around effort.

LVC (10-4, 2-2 MAC Freedom) overcame a slow offensive start by scoring five goals in a span of four minutes during the second half of the first quarter. Ryan Grace started the scoring with his 38th goal of the season off a feed from Dylan Rinyak with 7:40 on the clock. Connor Rowe won the following faceoff and made his way towards the goal, firing a shot into the back of the net for the fourth time this season. The Dutchmen added a pair of goals two minutes later as Grace scored his second of the game, and Ethan Keenan scored his 21st goal of the year to make it 4-0.

The Devils (7-7, 1-3 MAC Freedom) called a timeout to try and stop the momentum, but the Dutchmen were able to find the back of the net for the fifth time as Rinyak connected with Sean Poole for his 28th goal of the year with 4:03 left. The Devils were able to get on the board with a goal a minute later to cut the deficit to 5-1. The Dutchmen had a few shots go wide in the final minute to keep the advantage at four after 15 minutes.

LVC broke the game wide open in the second quarter, as they scored seven times while holding FDU off the scoreboard. Keenan began the scoring a couple of minutes in off an assist by Grace. Poole scored his second goal of the year off a pass from Wyatt Shamer. Rowe scored his second goal of the game off a faceoff win as Montgomery Sensenig picked up the ground ball and then found Rowe cutting to the crease.

The scoring continued with three goals in a span of two minutes as Poole scored his second goal of the quarter off another assist from Grace. Rowan Myers and Shamer added back-to-back goals with Myers scoring his 19th of the season and Shamer tallying his eighth. Grace scored the final goal of the half as he fired a shot past the keeper following a pass from Connor Sample that put the Dutchmen up 12-1.

The Dutchmen came out firing to begin the second half, with Brayden Brown scoring his 13th goal of the season a few minutes into the quarter. Jacob Mrose then fed Hayden Carling along the left wing for his 20th goal to put LVC ahead 14-1. The Devils answered with the next three goals to cut the deficit to 14-4 with 2:48 remaining in the third quarter. The third goal was a man-up goal following a Dutchmen penalty. LVC responded in a big way as Myers scored with one second left to push the advantage to 15-4 heading to the fourth quarter.

FDU scored in the first minute of the final quarter. LVC answered right back as Sam Spagnuolo scored his sixth goal less than a minute later. Brown scored his second goal of the game a few minutes after that off a great cross-field pass from Shamer to make it 17-5 with 11:31 left. The Devils took advantage of back-to-back LVC penalties with another man-up goal to make it an 11-goal differential with 9:27 on the clock.
