Women’s Tennis Earns Two Wins in Hilton Head Doubleheader

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Lebanon Valley women's tennis team earned a pair of wins on Wednesday in Hilton Head, South Carolina, as the Dutchmen knocked off Roanoke College 4-3 in the morning and then swept Saint Vincent College 7-0 in the afternoon.

LVC (5-2) began the day at the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Resort against the Maroons of Roanoke College (3-3) with a tightly contested match. The Dutchmen got out to a great start, winning two of the three doubles matches to take the doubles point. The third doubles match was won by the Maroons in a tiebreak set. Roanoke won two of the first three singles matches to be contested to even the score at two as Catherine Stone won her number two singles match for the Dutchmen. Roanoke took the lead with a three-set win at number four before LVC rallied with straight set victories at five and six to win the match.

The Dutchmen then traveled to the Shipyard Van Der Meer Tennis Center, where they made quick work of the Bearcats (9-8) to improve to 3-1 on the trip. LVC won all nine matches against Saint Vincent and only dropped seven games total.
