GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's tennis team won its sixth straight match with a thrilling 4-3 victory at Messiah University on Saturday afternoon in a tightly contested affair.
The Dutchmen (9-2) won two of the three doubles matches, needing a tiebreaker at number three to earn the first point of the match. Singles play was just as tight, with four of the six matches needing three sets and three of the matches needing close to two hours to decide a winner. Messiah won a number two singles to even the score at one. The Dutchmen took courts one and three in three-set thrillers to go up 3-1.
Katie Berra scored a three-set win at number four singles to clinch the match victory. The Falcons won on courts five and six to set the final score.
Inside the Box
- Erika Badner and Catherine Stone were winners in singles and doubles. The pair started the day with a 6-3 victory at number one doubles.
- Stone needed three sets at number one singles after she dropped the first set. The junior rallied for the 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win to improve to 9-0 on the season.
- Badner needed close to two hours to defeat her opponent at number three singles. The sophomore had a 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (7-3) victory to improve to 7-4 on the year.
- Berra kept her undefeated singles season alive with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 win at number four singles to clinch the match victory. The sophomore is 7-0 in dual matches this year and won her first three-setter.
- Nikki Denbowski and Laken Kelly earned an important 7-6 (7-3) victory at number three doubles.
- Kelly went three sets in her number five singles match, dropping a hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) decision.

The Dutchmen will close out the non-conference portion of the schedule on Thursday, March 26, as they welcome Drew University to the Shankroff Tennis Center. Opening serves are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. with the Rangers in Annville.
