Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Moser and Hebert Power Women’s Lacrosse over Albright

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Chloe Moser was a force on the defensive end, and Kyla Hebert sparked the offense with seven goals as the Lebanon Valley women's lacrosse team earned a 15-4 victory over visiting Albright College on Wednesday on Arnold Field in Annville.

Moser won the opening draw for the Dutchmen (5-3). Elizabeth Morgan sent a shot high before Bethany Cohee found Molly Whisler cutting through the middle for the first goal of the game. The Lions (5-3) evened the score a minute later, on their first offensive possession of the game. The Dutchmen struck right back with a pair of goals. Morgan connected with Hebert for her first goal of the day, and after Kamille Bagapuro won the next draw control, Morgan raced around a defender for a goal. Albright countered with a goal to cut the lead to 3-2 with 10:27 left in the quarter.

LVC called a timeout after Albright's goal and responded with two goals by Hebert over the next three minutes. Cohee assisted on Hebert's first goal before the senior beat a defender and fired a shot into the back of the cage to give the Dutchmen a 5-1 advantage with 7:22 remaining. Hannah Schneider had a shot saved, and then Morgan's shot was blocked. The teams traded scoreless possessions until Moser picked up a ground ball on a failed clear attempt, and Morgan found Hebert over the middle to put the Dutchmen up by four. Moser intercepted a pass and cleared the ball in the final minute of the quarter, but LVC could not get a shot off.

Schneider had a shot saved a couple of minutes into the second quarter following a Grace Marchese-caused turnover and ground ball. The Lions scored the first goal of the quarter with 10:45 left in the half to cut the deficit to three. Two minutes later Hebert worked her way free for her fifth goal of the half to push the lead back up to four. Morgan put a shot high, Katie DeWitt had a shot blocked, and Gigi Ditsky made three saves on the defensive end over the next three minutes.

Bagapuro scored back-to-back goals a little over a minute apart from each other to make it 9-3. The first-year used her speed to find open space and fired shots into the goal. Morgan and Hebert connected once again, less than a minute later, for Hebert's sixth goal of the game as LVC took a 10-3 advantage with 2:14 left in the half. Whisler made it an eight-goal advantage in the final minute as Cohee sent a pass to the senior right in front of the goal, and Whisler sent a shot into the back of the net.

The Dutchmen came out firing in the second half as Annelise Shack won the first draw, and Morgan had a shot saved. Ditsky came up with a save on the other end of the field before Cohee found Whisler open again for the third time to push the lead to 12-3 with 10:42 on the clock. LVC dominated possession over the next few minutes, with Cohee having a shot saved, DeWitt putting a shot wide, and then Whisler having a shot saved.

The teams traded turnovers over the next couple of minutes. LVC put pressure on the Albright goalie as Hebert had a shot blocked, Bapagapuro missed wide, and then Hebert hit the crossbar. Hebert had a shot saved with just under five minutes to play in the quarter. The Dutchmen were able to force a failed clear attempt, playing a woman down as Katie Giusti ran down a bad pass. DeWitt had a shot saved, and the Lions cleared the ball. Albright ended its scoreless drought with a free position goal to cut the lead to 12-4 after three quarters of play.

The beginning of the fourth quarter was a battle as the teams traded turnovers over the first few minutes. Albright took the first shot of the quarter a little over four minutes in, as Ditsky made a save. Hebert scored her seventh goal of the game nearly seven minutes into the quarter as she eluded a defender and fired a shot into the goal. Whisler then gave the Dutchmen a 10-goal lead a minute later with her fourth goal of the game.

Albright forced a turnover after Moser won the following draw control. Ditsky made a save on a shot, and Marchese picked up the ground ball. The Dutchmen cleared the ball, and Schneider worked her way free for her seventh goal of the season to make it 15-4 with 2:45 left. Albright called a timeout following the goal. The Lions put a shot on goal and hit the post over the next two minutes. LVC countered with Bagapuro hitting the post in the final minute at the other end of the field on one of the final plays of the game.
