Women’s Tennis Begins Spring with Dominant Win

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Lebanon Valley women's tennis team started the spring season on Sunday with a 6-1 victory over Johnson & Wales University – Charlotte at Hilton Head High School in Hilton Head.
 
The Dutchmen (3-1) won all three doubles matches to begin the match. LVC continued the strong play into singles, winning five of the six matches in straight sets, with the Wildcats (1-4) winning their lone point of the match at number one singles.
 
Inside the Box
  • Katie Berra and Megan Martin were the first doubles court done at number two as they cruised to a 6-0 victory. The duo is 4-0 this year in duals and has been dominant in every set.
  • Erika Badner and Nikki Denbowski were the next court to finish with a 6-0 victory at number three. They improved to 3-1 in duals this year.
  • Sarah McComas and Catherine Stone completed the sweep at number one doubles with a 6-3 victory. They are also 3-1 in duals this season.
  • Stone made quick work at number two singles for a 6-0, 6-0 win. She is 4-0 in duals this season and has recorded double bagels in her last two singles matches.
  • Martin earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number three to improve to 3-0 in dual play. The junior has not dropped a set during duals in singles or doubles play this year.
  • Berra clinched the match victory at number five singles, winning with a double bagel score of 6-0, 6-0. The sophomore is 3-0 in dual matches this season with two double bagels.
  • Badner won 6-0, 6-1 at number four singles to improve to 3-1 in dual matches. The sophomore has dropped just three games in her three wins.
  • Laken Kelly earned LVC's final point with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at number six. She improved to 3-1 in dual matches this year, winning all three in straight sets.
Up Next
The Dutchmen will be back on the courts tomorrow as they take on the University of Lynchburg at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center. The first serves are scheduled for 1 p.m. in Hilton Head.
