ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's lacrosse team scored a program record 26 goals on Wednesday evening to defeat visiting Eastern Mennonite University 26-0 in the team's home opener on Arnold Field.
The Flying Dutchmen dominated from start to finish, holding the Royals to just one total shot on goal.
Chloe Moser won the opening draw, and less than a minute later,
Kyla Hebert found the back of the net off a pass by
Elizabeth Morgan.
Nina Humpf scored a couple of minutes later as Morgan dished out another assist. The Royals won the ensuing draw and earned a free-position attempt.
Gigi Ditsky stopped the shot with a big save. Morgan increased the lead to 3-0 with her first goal of the game off a feed by Hebert.
LVC kept the pressure on as
Molly Whisler scored a pair of goals a little over a minute apart from each other.
Bethany Cohee recorded her first assist of the game on the second goal. EMU called their first time out following the goal that gave the Dutchmen a 5-0 advantage with 6:57 to play in the opening quarter. Morgan pushed the lead to sixth with another goal as Humpf recorded the assist on the play.
Emily Menet scored her first goal of the season on a free-position shot with four minutes on the clock. The Dutchmen added two more goals at the end of the quarter as Morgan completed her hat trick with 1:08 to play and then assisted Hebert's second goal about 30 seconds later to put LVC up 9-0.
Katie DeWitt scored her first goal of the game to start the second quarter, scoring as the Dutchmen added four more goals in the quarter to take a 14-0 halftime lead. Hebert got her hat trick off a pass from Cohee to make it 11-0 seven minutes into the quarter.
Hannah Schneider pushed the lead to 12 with an unassisted goal, her first of the season. Cohee and Hebert added goals in the final four minutes of the half, with Morgan recording an assist on Cohee's goal. The Dutchmen took 11 shots in the quarter and put six on goal while winning all five draw controls.
Moser won the first draw of the second half, and Schneider worked her way in for her second goal of the game a little over a minute in. Moser won another draw, and Whisler scored to push the advantage to 16-0 off a feed by Morgan.
Maddie Puleo scored her first career goal with 10 minutes left in the quarter off an assist by Humpf. The Dutchmen were held off the scoreboard for the next five minutes until DeWitt found the back of the net for the second time off a pass from Whisler. DeWitt then completed her hat trick a couple of minutes later as Hebert found her open.
Chloe Moser pushed the lead to 20-0 off another assist by Hebert as one of the last plays of the quarter.
Ellie Sarvis scored the first two goals of her career to begin the third quarter. The attacker scored her first goal a couple of minutes into the quarter and then added a second goal with around 10:30 left.
Annelise Shack scored her first career goal a little over a minute later to push the advantage to 23-0. LVC scored its final three goals in the final five minutes.
Allison Keeney scored the first goal of her career, followed by the first career goal from
Megan Williver.
Grace Marchese rounded out the scoring with a free-position goal.
Inside the Box
- 15 different Dutchmen scored at least one goal as LVC eclipsed the previous school record of 25 goals in a game that occurred last year in a 25-3 victory over Gwynedd Mercy University.
- Four Dutchmen recorded hat tricks, led by Hebert with seven points on four goals and three assists. The senior took five total shots and won two draw controls.
- Morgan led the team with eight points on three goals and five assists. The junior caused four turnovers and picked up four ground balls in addition to her offensive numbers.
- Whisler finished with three goals and one assist while taking five shots.
- DeWitt recorded the second hat trick of her career with three goals on five shots.
- Sarvis and Schneider scored two goals each, while seven different Dutchmen had one goal apiece. Marchese, Shack, Williver, Puleo, Moser, Menet, and Kennery all scored one goal.
- Cohee had one goal and four assists for five points, while Humpf had one goal and two assists for three points.
- Katie Giusti led the team in ground balls with four, while Moser won a team-high nine draw controls.
- LVC held a 45-3 shot advantage, including 36-1 in shots on goal. The Dutchmen won 21 of 26 draw controls and were a perfect 13-for-13 on clear attempts.
- Ditsky played the first three quarters in goal, making one save. Morgan Schinder made her collegiate debut in the fourth quarter and did not face a shot on goal.
- The shutout was the second in program history. LVC recorded its first shutout with an 18-0 victory over Hood College in 2014.

The Dutchmen will return to action next Wednesday, Feb. 25, as the team hosts Rowan University at 5 p.m. on Arnold Field. The game will serve as the team's Hidden Opponent Awareness Game.
