ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley College Esports dove into its third week of National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) competition, along with kicking off League of the East play as the midway point of the fall split fast approaches!
Rocket League— Looking to build off their victory from last week, Rocket League opened the week with their first match in League of the East play against a strong Widener squad. Widner proved to be too difficult for the Dutchmen to overcome, as they fell in the series 4-0. Moving to NECC play, the opponent in front of LVC was the Griffins of Seton Hill University. Despite taking the first game in the best-of-seven, LVC was unable to close out the series, dropping it 4-1, setting them back to a 1-2 record in NECC.
Valorant— After their early success, Valorant looked to keep up the momentum against Marist University White. In map one, Lotus, the team gained their first rounds of experience on the map in a match environment. Going down 9-3 at half, LVC battled back before Marist closed out with a 13-10 scoreline. Headed into map 2, Sunset, both teams were much more contested throughout. Despite this, LVC was unable to force a decider map, with Marist taking Sunset 13-8 and the series 2-0, handing Valorant their first regular season loss. On Thursday, the team opened League of the East competition against Albright. Again on Sunset, the Dutchmen were unable to find their groove against a tough Albright squad, going down 1-0 in the series moving into Lotus. While a more back-and-forth affair, a six-round win streak kicked off the second half for Albright who took map two 13-7 and the series 2-0.
Super Smash— Seeking a rebound from their narrow loss to Illinois College in week two, the Smash team took on Edinboro University. The series was highly contested the entire way as both sets would come down to the very last stock on each team. Set one was clinched by Adam Felker who has been a standout all season long with Tuesday being no different. In the second set, Felker was placed earlier in the lineup, leading to sophomore Dylan Serapiglia being placed into the anchor position. He would managed to shut down the final Edinboro player in the set and the series as LVC took a 2-0 victory.
