MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Nathan Prex netted three goals for the Lebanon Valley College men's soccer team in the second half, leading the program to a 3-1 victory on a rainy night at Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
The Lions (2-6-1) took the first shot of the game, sending a header shot to the right of the net 4:26 into the first half. The Dutchmen (5-1-2) countered with a header shot by
Andrew Myers, which went to the left of the net at the 6:39 mark. The programs proceeded to battle defensively for over 10 minutes, as neither squad took a shot during this stretch.
Charlie Kramer then registered an attempt for LVC at the 17:19 mark, sending the ball above the net.
Penn State Harrisburg responded with a shot that went high 20:45 into the contest, before a try off the crossbar at the 23:55 mark. The Lions also had an attempt that went to the left of the net at the 24:32 mark. After the teams went back and forth on the defensive end for over six minutes, Penn State Harrisburg took a shot that went above the net at the 31:04 mark and sent the ball to the right of the net at the 33:25 mark. The Lions later put an attempt on goal 43:48 into the contest, and
Ben Kolarek came through with a clutch defensive save for Lebanon Valley. The programs went into halftime in a 0-0 tie.
Penn State Harrisburg opened the scoring 3:58 into the second half, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal by Milton Neto. The Lions were then charged with a red card at the 52:06 mark, causing the program to finish the game with just 10 players on the field. The Dutchmen also kept working to generate opportunities as the game progressed, as
Harrison Davis sent a shot to the left of the net at the 55:44 mark, and
Ethan Groff had a try blocked at the 58:01 mark.
Lebanon Valley got on the board 60:32 into the contest, tying the game at 1-1. The program evened the score when Groff delivered a cross from the right side of the field to Prex, who sent a shot into the left side of the net for a goal. The Flying Dutchmen quickly added another tally, taking a 2-1 advantage at the 62:18 mark on a penalty kick goal by Prex, which ended up in the top-right corner of the net. The teams followed this by competing defensively for over nine minutes, as neither side logged a shot during this stretch.
The Dutchmen scored again 71:43 into the game, going ahead 3-1 over the Lions. The squad went ahead by two when Prex kicked the ball into the left side of the net for his third goal of the night, after Groff's second assist on a cross from the right side. Prex continued to tally shots for Lebanon Valley as the second stanza rolled on, sending an attempt to the left of the net at the 74:29 mark. The defenses of both teams also remained dominant as the end of the contest approached, as neither program took a shot until there was one second left. Penn State Harrisburg sent the ball to the left of the net with one second remaining, prompting LVC to secure its 3-1 victory.

- Prex scored three goals, bringing his Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom-leading total to eight goals this season. The senior's hat trick marked the second time in his career that he scored three or more goals in a game. Prex also found the net four times in LVC's 5-2 win at Misericordia University on Sept. 30, 2023. Additionally, Prex's second goal was his third game-winner of the campaign, and it marked his first penalty kick goal of the year.
- Groff logged a game-high two assists, tying a career-high. The senior dished out assists on Prex's first and third goals.
- Lebanon Valley recorded eight shots and had a 3-2 advantage over Penn State Harrisburg in shots on target.
- Prex also posted game-highs with four shots and three shots on goal.
