Women’s Tennis Wins All Nine Matches at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's tennis team started the dual season with a dominant performance at Susquehanna University. The Dutchmen won all nine matches to defeat the River Hawks 7-0 at the Garrett Tennis Courts in Selinsgrove.
 
LVC needed just 30 minutes to win all three doubles matches as the River Hawks won just four games combined. The strong play continued in singles as all six Dutchmen won in straight sets and three of the matches were double bagels.
 
Inside the Box
  • Catherine Stone and Sarah McComas made quick work at number one doubles earning a 6-1 victory. The duo was the first court to finish.
  • Katie Berra and Megan Martin finished next at number two doubles, also winning by a 6-1 score.
  • Nikki Denbowski and Erika Badner finished off the doubles sweep with a 6-2 victory at number three. The duo improved to 4-0 when playing together.
  • Martin was the first singles match to finish at number three as the junior cruised to her sixth career double bagel victory of 6-0, 6-0.
  • Stone was next to finish at number two as she won her 13th career singles match 6-0, 6-1.
  • McComas clinched the match victory at number one with a 6-4, 6-1 victory. The senior is now 3-1 on the year in singles play.
  • Badner improved to 8-0 this season including 4-0 in singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number four. It is the second double bagel of her career.
  • Berra also had a double bagel at number five for her 15th career singles win. The sophomore's 6-0, 6-0 victory was the second of her career.
  • Laken Kelly earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory at number six to complete the sweep. The sophomore improved to 9-3 in her career.

The Dutchmen will be back at the Shankroff Tennis Center on Thursday Sept. 24, as they host Penn State Harrisburg in the first home dual match of the year. First serves are scheduled for 4 p.m. against the Lions.
